Digify Africa General Practitioners (GPs) 2022 Programme

ABOUT DIGIFY GPs;

Digify Africa has designed an 8-week Digify GP course for a total of 50 participants who will be trained in digital marketing, entrepreneurship and presentation skills. The graduates will continue to go through a 2-week freelancer training for work readiness. After graduating from the programme, these Digify-certified participants will be provided with post programme support where they will be assisted in finding and sustaining work/clients.

You are welcome to apply for the FATE Foundation in partnership with Meta launches the 5th edition of the “Aspiring Entrepreneurs Programme: Digital (AEP Digital)” which is targeted at startup Founders with innovative business ideas between the ages of 25 and 45 years. FATE Foundation Aspiring Entrepreneurs Programme: Digital (AEP Digital) for Aspiring Nigerian Entrepreneurs

The Program leverages on FATE Foundation’s AEP’s unrivaled enterprise development curriculum which covers the basics of starting and growing a successful business in Nigeria and Meta’s digital strategy and literacy programming support for small and growing businesses.

In 2022, Fate Foundation would be supporting 240 Aspiring Entrepreneurs from across different sectors in the Nigerian Economy with special consideration for entrepreneurs in the Education, Agriculture, Hospitality & Tourism, Creatives. Our intent in selecting these sectors is their consideration as high growth, high impact, and job-creating sectors for the Nigerian Economy. As with previous AEP Digital editions, this program is designed to provide qualified founders with relevant knowledge, tools, and skills to grow sustainable and digitally-enabled businesses while also impacting the economy positively. Key components of this year’s program are:

  1. It will run in a hybrid format (in-person and virtual learning and support sessions).
  2. Improved curriculum building on the previous year’s learnings and experience.
  3. Integrating the program with established state and local level industry associations, trade groups, and the FATE Alumni network; and
  4. As with previous editions, it is absolutely Free with the grant from Meta covering tuition and direct program expenses for reading materials and resources during the program. Participants are however expected to get themselves to and from the program venue locations

Curriculum

The AEP Digital curriculum is designed to provide insight to aspiring entrepreneurs to see diverse hidden market potentials despite the ravaging unforeseen changes in the world, help create a structured and practical business model, and learn the diverse opportunities available through the various digital tools to grow their businesses. The curriculum is designed to bring business owners into a face-to-face position with the realities of running a successful enterprise in the new and/or arising entrepreneurship ecosystem with implementable strategies that will ensure online visibility using different digital tools and strategies.

These sessions will be facilitated by various industry leaders and professionals across the entrepreneurship ecosystem using a pedagogy approach to build networks amongst the entrepreneurs and encourage group/teamwork for better learning. The robust learning structure is a combination of hybrid interactive class sessions which will run for four (5) weeks per cohort, workshops, case studies, entrepreneurship book reviews, plenary sessions, masterclasses, and group activities.

Programme Benefits

  • Through the support of Meta, the programme is FREE to all entrepreneurs who successfully scale through the three application stages. This scholarship support from Meta covers all direct course fees including course materials, books, and post programme support.
  • This is a State-by-State Hybrid training, and it is expected that each entrepreneur enrolled in the programme must be from the location/city where you have applied for the programme. This will also be verified during the shortlisting/selection process.

African Fact-Checking Awards 2022 for Journalistic Excellence in Africa (USD7,000+ in Prizes)

The African Fact-Checking Awards, the longest-running awards programme honouring fact-checking journalism by the media in Africa, are in their ninth year.

The need for accurate information in everyday life has spurred the growth of fact-checking in Africa and across the world. In 2021, we received a record number of 216 entries from 28 African countries. We expect even more in 2022.

To qualify, entries must have been first published or broadcast in the period from 1 August 2021 to 15 July 2022. The fact-check should conclude that a claim about an important topic, originating in or relevant to Africa, is either misleading or wrong.

The awards have three categories, with honours going to a winner and a runner-up.

Requirements

To be eligible, entries for this competition must:

  • Be the original work of the individual or team identified in the entry form as the author.
  • Expose a claim on an important topic that originated in or is relevant to Africa as misleading or wrong.
  • Be an original piece of fact-checking journalism first published or broadcast on any date from 1 August 2021 to 15 July 2022.
  • Be received by the organisers before midnight GMT on 15 July 2022. Late entries will not be accepted.
  • Be received by the organisers via the official entry form.

Women In Africa (WIA) Women of the Future Hub Program 2022 for Gabonese Women Entrepreneurs

This year, Eramet and Women In Africa are joining forces to set up a Hub in Gabon open to 30 women entrepreneurs rigorously selected by WIA. The first cohort will benefit from a comprehensive acceleration program offering training, mentoring, and access to funding sources.

This hub is the materialization of WIA and Eramet’s commitment to creating dynamic and innovative ecosystems in Africa through female entrepreneurship.

The Hub Femmes d’Avenir, the first of its kind in Libreville, will also be a place to host events to highlight and promote Gabonese women’s entrepreneurship throughout the year.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is launching the second cohort of its programme to hire young talent from Africa and of African descent. The Young Professionals from Africa and of African Descent programme is a starting point for an exciting career with the United Nations, aiming to attract motivated young professionals with diverse academic and professional backgrounds.

Open to qualified candidates who are 32 years of age or younger in 2022, who self-identify as a person of African descent or are a national of an African country, the programme offers an opportunity for selected candidates to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, international environment and the potential to grow into impactful leadership roles in international development.

DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Programme Master’s Scholarships 2023 for Public Policy and Good Governance for Study in Germany (Fully Funded)

The DAAD Helmut-Schmidt-Programme (known as Public Policy and Good Governance) supports future leaders from developing countries (see list of countries), who want to promote democracy and social justice in their home countries. The programme, which is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office, offers the chance to acquire a Master’s degree in Master programmes of particular relevance for the social, political and economic development in the students’ countries of origin.

Objective

With the Helmut-Schmidt-Programme, the DAAD strives to contribute to promoting good governance and civil society structures in developing and emerging countries.

The Programme

  • offers future leaders master’s courses in disciplines that are of special relevance for the social, political, and economic development
  • prepares them in a practice-oriented course for responsible positions in or for their regions of origin and contributes to establishing economic and social forms that are democratically oriented and designed to overcome social inequalities

Requirements

Graduates from developing countries (bachelor or equivalent)

  • with a well-qualified first university degree as a rule in the fields of social and political sciences, law, economics, public policy and administration

What Can be Funded:

  • Academic education in the master’s courses selected by the DAAD that are listed below, will take place from September/October 2023.
  • Throughout their studies, all scholarship holders of the Helmut-Schmidt-Programme benefit from accompanying support services provided by the programme coordinators at the respective study locations.
  • Scholarship holders benefit from events and seminars organised specifically for them, as well as close exchange with other international scholarship holders.
  • Planning also provides for participation in interdisciplinary networking events.
  • DAAD scholarship holders are exempt from paying tuition fees.

  • Scholarships (of currently € 931 per month) for master’s courses at German higher education institutions.
  • Health insurance cover in Germany

  • Preceding German language course in Germany, lasting up to 6 months. Participation is mandatory.
  • A sur place rate of € 500 per month is paid in the 4th semester (mandatory online semester in the student’s country of origin or another developing country).

Requirements

To be eligible for the competition, you must:

  • Be a registered company in Africa where the African final is being held
  • Have been actively operating for 5 years or less (in the current form)
  • Generate revenue between US $1 million and $15 million; or have raised at least US $500,000 in equity
  • Be either a pure technology or a tech-enabled, tech-driven or tech-led business
  • Not be majority owned by a large corporate
  • Conduct all pitches in English
  • Be available to pitch at a country or regional semi-final event in the timeline outlined by the country of origin (if applicable)
  • Available to pitch virtually at a country or regional final event in the timeline outlined by the country of origin
  • If selected as a finalist, be available to pitch at the global final at Web Summit in Lisbon, Portugal in November 2022

SPAR Eastern Cape, a division of The SPAR Group Ltd, is currently recruiting for Graduate Intern Trainees to join their dynamic team.

This programme is geared towards providing and developing recent graduates by providing an on-the-job workplace experience programme aligned to the graduate’s field of study. The programme will run over a period of 12 consecutive months. The program offers Graduates the opportunity to gain experience in a complex, multinational fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) business.

Minimum requirements

Must demonstrate that you have graduated and/or completed your degree and/or diploma.Must not be part of an Internship or Graduate programme OR have previously partaken in an Internship or Graduate programme.Graduates will be required to be based at the site where the specific vacancy is advertised for the duration of the Graduate Development programme.Must have good communication skills.Must have ambition to learn.Be able to organise own transport to get to work and back.Must have completed one of the following qualifications (3-year or 4year Diploma or Degree) :

South African Field Epidemiology Training Programme 2022/2023 for African Health Professionals

In 2006, the South African Field Epidemiology Training Programme was developed as a joint collaboration between the National Department of Health (NDOH), the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) of the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS), the University of Pretoria (UP) and the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) office in South Africa. As from 2018, the incoming cohort will be assigned to attend either the University of Pretoria (UP) or the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).

About the Programme

The programme is a combination of didactic and practical training in which the resident is grounded in the academic basics of applied epidemiology and is assigned to field sites where s/he learns by doing while being mentored by supervisors in projects that address key public health priorities within the respective countries and within the regions. The programme also has Frontline course targeting public health professionals in the area of surveillance at national, provincial, district and local levels. The health professionals targeted include medical officers, nurses, infection control officers, surveillance officers, and environmental health officers.

Work experience requirements

  • Professional experience in a health field or other fields relevant to health
  • Experience of working in the public health system is desirable

Minimal Educational requirements

(all degrees should be in health, laboratory or public health-related field from an accredited university):

  • A medical, veterinary or dentistry degree; OR
  • A doctorate degree in a medical/health-related field; OR
  • A master’s degree in a medical or health-related field; OR
  • An honour’s/bachelor’s degree with prior research experience

Please note that a B Tech degree does not fulfill the minimum educational requirements of the University of Pretoria, the University of the Witwatersrand and the SAFETP.

For the University of Pretoria:

Candidates applying for the MSc Epidemiology and Biostatistics degree must hold an appropriate Honors or Masters degree that includes at least two full courses in epidemiology and two full courses in biostatistics. The University of Pretoria’s BSc Hons Epidemiology and Biostatistics programme is designed to fulfill these requirements.

  • Registered with their respective professional bodies
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook for use in communication, word processing, analysis, presentation and report generation. Knowledge of a statistical package will be an advantage
  • Have a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive a hired car
  • Provide proof of current physical residential address for future purposes of Domicilium citandi et executandi.

UN Human Rights Commission Fellowship Programme 2022 for People of African Descent (Fully Funded to Geneva, Switzerland)

The Fellowship Programme was initiated by the Anti-Racial Discrimination Section in 2011 and was further supported by GA resolution on Programme of activities for the implementation of the International Decade for People of African Descent (A/RES/69/16).

Programme Details

The aim is to strengthen participants’ skills to contribute to the protection and promotion of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of people of African descent in their respective countries. The participants are equipped with the tools necessary to enhance the development of legislation, policies and programmes; to strengthen collaboration of civil society with governments; and to undertake local awareness-raising activities.

Requirements

Candidate must be an individual of African descent living in the Diaspora.

  • The candidate must have a minimum of 4 years of work experience related to the rights of People of African Descent.
  • The candidate has to submit a letter from an organization working on issues related to People of African Descent or minority rights certifying their status.
  • Candidates must be available to attend the full duration of the programme.

Benefits

Each fellow will be given a return ticket (economy class) from the country of residence to Geneva; basic health insurance; and a stipend to cover modest accommodation and other living expenses for the duration of the Programme.

Time

  • In 2022, the Fellowship will be holding from 21 November to 9 December in Geneva, Switzerland, provided that the COVID-19 situation allows for travel and in-person training.
  • In addition, fellows are to dedicate a few hours to pre-online courses and preparatory assignments in the preceding two weeks.

SEIFAC Loan Payment/ Disbursement Terms and Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to SEIFAC members, visitors, users and other individuals accessing or using the Service.

  1. You shall open a SEIFAC Project Account with our official Bankers.
  2. You agree to farm in our Agricultural Production Cluster (Agro-PC).
  3. You agree that an insurance policy be bought for your allocated farm by SEIFAC.
  4. You agree to the fact that the SEIFAC/CBN ABP Single Digit Interest (SDI) Rate Loan is not in cash but in kind.
  5. You agree that SEIFAC in conjunction with your Agro-PC and/or their Service Provider(s) are responsible for the production and management of your enterprise from land preparation, production agronomy and harvesting of final farm produce.
  6. You agree that you shall only play a supervisory role to know what has been done on your allocated field for the purpose of probity and accountability except and only when you are contracted to do otherwise for an activity over a given timeframe.
  7. You agree that agricultural mechanization should be applied on your Agro-PC field – Seifac Disbursement: Reasons CBN/Heritage Won’t Pay Applicants
  8. You agree that your farm shall be managed by the Agro-PC Manager, who may or may not be a member of the Agro-PC appointed by the Agro-PC in conjunction with SEIFAC.
  9. You agree that you shall not claim ownership of whatsoever on the field allocated to you by harvesting or boycotting the produce from your field until your loan is paid in full.
  10. You agree that SEIFAC/your Agro-PC should market your Agro-PC farm produce in bulk, pay the loan and pay the balance thereof into your Project Account as profit from your farm enterprise.
  11. You agree to pay Agro-PC annual membership subscription of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00) only, which will serve as equity contribution for the following cropping season(s) to qualify the Agro-PCs to continue in its production enterprise.
  12. You agree to pay a one-time Membership Registration of Seven Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N7,500.00) only and subsequently an annual subscription of Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira (N2,500.00) only.
  13. You accept to maintain an Account (savings or current) with the SEIFAC Microfinance Bank (SEIFAC-MFB) which its establishment is underway.
  14. You agree to be servicing your SEIFAC-MFB Account from time to time for it to be active for the good of SEIFAC and the growth of SEIFA-MFB which you are a stakeholder.
  15. You agree to work for the actualization of the vision and mission of SEIFAC by adhering to the bye-laws guiding the cooperative.
  16. You agree to maintain in confidentiality any privilege information of the cooperative in your possession.
  17. You agree to avoid the mismanagement of any property of SEIFAC that would be under your possession from time to time in the course of implementing your production enterprise.
  18. You agree to maintain loyalty to the management of your primary Agro-PC and SEIFAC being the hub of all the constituent Agro-PCs.
  19. You agree that any art of criminal act perpetrated on your Agro-PC field by you, your relatives or your assignees which will contradict the bye-laws of SEIFAC and your Agro-PC by extension you should be held responsible and as such face the full consequences of the law.
  20. You agree that at the end of every cropping season, SEIFAC should deduct from your SEIFAC Account 20% as your Pension Contribution from the profit on your enterprise and that it is receivable after your retirement from farming at 70yrs or voluntary retirement after a minimum of 15 Wet Cropping Seasons.
  21. You agree that if you chose to retire before a minimum of 15 Wet Cropping Seasons your Pension Funds should be paid to you in full and at once as gratuity.
  22. You agree that you shall give SEIFA six (6) months in lieu of notice your voluntary retirement OR be deducted 10% of from your pension funds account.
  23. You agree that in the event of death, your Pension Funds should be paid to your next of kin at once in full and at once as gratuity within 10 days of the receipt of necessary evidence of death certification from your family. Seifac Disbursement: Reasons CBN/Heritage Won’t Pay Applicants
  24. You agree to be enrolled on the Health Insurance Policy – HMO operated by SEIFAC for her farmers called SEIFAC Farmers Health Care System (SEIFAC-FHCS) for the health benefit of every member of SEIFAC and make an annual subscription of Six Thousand Naira (N00) only every year at harvest.
  25. You agree that it is only the farmer, his or her spouse and any two (2) of his /her children under the ages of 18 (i.e. 0 – 18 years) are eligible to benefit from the Health Insurance Policy – SEIFAC-FHCS.
  26. You agree that anytime you/your spouse and two of your children registered under the SEIFAC-FHCS receive treatment from the approved hospitals, you shall pay 50% and SEIFAC pays the other 50% to make up 100% of the medical bills. This is exception of laboratory investigation bills.
  27. You agree that you will participate fully on the farm enterprise and if found wanting should be dealt with in accordance to the provision of SEIFAC bye-laws.
  28. You agree that in your Agro-PC, YOU are the one to ensure every other member farmer pays back his loan in order for the Agro-PC to qualify for the next cropping season.
  29. You agree that should you fail to pay back your loan and every effort to recover from the Agro-PC proves abortive, your next of kin and guarantor shall take full responsibility to ensure the repayment of your indebtedness to SEIFAC/CBN/Commercial Bank who are the financiers of the project.
  30. You agree that a lien be placed on your SEIFAC Project Account whenever your SEIFAC Loan has not been fully recovered until such period when the loan facility has been liquidated by you or your next of kin and/or guarantor and/or by extension your Agro-PC.
  31. You agree that you will not be found wanting in any act that will tarnish the image of SEIFAC or your primary Agro-PC, should you be found wanting, you should be expelled from the SEIFAC/Agro-PC and your Pension contribution be refunded to you as gratuity at your supposed retirement date.
