Echoing Green Fellowship 2023 for emerging Social Entrepreneurs

Echoing Green supports bold leaders from all over the world who see possibility in the face of the most existential challenges of our day. Together, we strive to build a world that has yet to exist: a future free from racism and its far-reaching consequences where all people can thrive.

This Fellowship is for people whose enterprises are at an early stage and who are experts on the challenge they’ve chosen to confront. We seek leaders who reflect the community they serve and bring deep knowledge of the issues into their work as they co-design solutions with and for their communities.

Requirements:

Applicant Eligibility

  • Will you be 18 years or older by the time you begin the Fellowship?
    • Echoing Green Fellowship applicants must be 18 years or older by August 8, 2022.
  • Are you able to communicate proficiently in English?
    • To be eligible for the Fellowship and fully participate in programming and support offerings, you must be able to communicate in English proficiently.
  • Are you an original founder or a leading member of your proposed organization’s original founding team?
    • We use the term “original founder” to describe people who launched or are launching an organization that is their original idea. You cannot have assumed a leadership position within the organization after its founding. To be eligible, you must be a leader with decision-making power within the organization and be either 1) a sole founder or 2) a leading founder on a team of people who created the organization.
  • Are you the primary decision maker for your organization?
    • To be eligible for an Echoing Green Fellowship, applicants must be the primary decision maker and have the ultimate authority over your organization’s growth and strategic vision.
  • Will you be able to work full time on your proposed organization throughout the 18-month Fellowship?
    • If selected for an Echoing Green Fellowship, you may hold other professional responsibilities, but you must work full time, defined here as 40 hours a week, on the work outlined in your Fellowship application, and it must remain as your main professional priority.

About the Job

  • Coordinate key plant operations activities (manufacturing, quality, Supply Chain and support functions i.e., Finance, HR, IS and Process systems) to deliver high-quality products and services at the lowest cost whilst consistently meeting internal and external customers demands, in line with the corporate objective.

Your New Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure Cost optimization, budget delivery and control of main cost drivers in Manufacturing
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with the team, internal customers, peers, institutions, suppliers
  • Maintain high (100%) standard of GMP, Safety and Security in the plant and all sales depots
  • Exploit management tools (BASIS, PRS – production reporting system, IM – inventory management, IC – internal control, EXIM – excellence in manufacturing etc.) to maximize opportunities for cost optimization
  • Relate with the commercial team on demand and Operational planning to drive for profitable volume growth
  • Deliver quality products at the right time and mix (SKU’s store keeping units) to all sales depots within the prescribed sales stock levels
  • Balanced knowledge in general management, manufacturing, financial and supply chain management to provide strategic leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to Food and Beverage Legislation, TCCC Standards, ISO certification,
  • Good Manufacturing Practices, and other internal and external regulatory compliance Drive MANEx to deliver a high productivity standard in the plant
  • Ensure usage and exploitations of management systems to affect financial controls positively and maximize profit
  • Prepare, present, and interpret Manufacturing KBIs, make recommendations which result in increased productivity and efficiency, reduced cost, and improved customer satisfaction

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) was founded in 1957 by four nations: Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and South Africa. As the administrative body of the region, CAF manages competitions, offers technical and administrative training courses while actively fostering the promotion and practice of football. The Confederation organizes championships such as the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN or AFCON), the most popular competition. It maintains very close links with FIFA in coordinating tournaments for different events such as the World Cup, Youth and Women competitions and the Olympic Games Football Tournaments.

Job Title: Commercial Director

Location: Cairo, Egypt

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement commercial strategies according to CAF’s goals and objectives aiming to accelerate growth.
  • Oversight of major commercial negotiations and supporting the CAF team to close complex rights deals.
  • Delivery of CAF’s sponsorship and media obligations, with a focus on event operations.
  • Build and develop a high-performance culture in the CAF commercial department and collaborate effectively with other internal teams to deliver objectives and plans
  • Oversee the appointment and engagement of major sales and service partner agencies as required.
  • Advise the CAF President and CAF General Secretary on commercial issues, including Media Rights, Digital and Sponsorship strategies, as well as trends and issues in the football business landscape.
  • Manage relationships with CAF’s major commercial stakeholders: broadcasters, sponsors, and service providers.
  • Ensure CAF meets the highest standards of event promotion, fan engagement and brand values.
  • Structure CAF’s commercial rights portfolio to achieve outcomes set by the CAF Executive Committee.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities.
  • Run transparent and competitive processes for the sale of CAF’s commercial rights and awarding of service contracts.
  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for the CAF Executive Committee.
  • Assist the Finance Director in setting financial targets and budget development and monitoring.
  • Establish and efficiently run a commercial department with concise workflows and approval processes.

Preferred Requirements

  • University Master’s Degree in Marketing, Business Management, Law, or related fields.
  • Fluent in English and/or French language both written and spoken; command of any of the other CAF official languages (English, French or Arabic) is a plus.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), knowledge of ERP is a must.
  • Team player, capable of adapting to different environments, flexible, patient, and resilient.
  • Strong level of proactivity with high sense of accountability, responsibility, and integrity.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.
  • Minimum experience of 10 years in different commercial functions at various levels, of which minimum of 5 years in a management position within a similar organization.
  • Proven track record and at least ten years’ experience leading multi-market commercial portfolios and commercial negotiations. Senior experience in sports or major event revenue development, rights management, or marketing programs.
  • Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes.
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset.

Business Incubation Communities (BIC) Africa Acceleration Programme 2022 for Women Entrepreneur

About the Acceleration Programme

BIC Africa will support 15 women entrepreneurs from Angola, Ethiopia, Madagascar or Somalia. The programme will run from May to September (15-weeks), and it will focus on supporting women business owners across all sectors and business types through a combination of live training modules, coaching sessions, exercises to be worked individually and a mentoring programme with women experts from Africa and Europe with high experience in supporting innovative entrepreneurs and start- ups.

The programme will include:

  • 8 live training modules
  • 4 group coaching sessions
  • 3 Networking sessions

Who we are looking for:

The preferred candidates should:

  • Be a woman (minimum age of 18-years-old) founders/owners of already created business that in themselves have a strong development potential, or entrepreneurs working on a project idea aimed to create a business with high growth potential.
  • Resident of Angola, Ethiopia, Madagascar or Somalia.
  • Be available between May and September 2022 to participate in the

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring storage, stock management and supply processes, as well as hygiene and security procedures, tools, and protocols (controlling pests and rodents), implementing appropriate quality controls and records, in order to ensure good storage conditions (temperatures, humidity and light exposure) and availability of drugs and medical material, according to MSF protocols, national regulations and in cooperation with the logistics department.
  • Recording all items received and issued in computer (Isystock) and reporting on drug consumptions and medical equipment dispensed according to protocols, informing on unusual patterns as well as forecasting future needs, in order to rationalise the budget and to ensure availability.
  • Assisting in training of nursing staff regarding dispensing of drugs and their side effects
  • Coordinating the delivery, reception and recording of international and local orders, in close coordination with the logistics department, updating stock files and informing line managers on their status (shortfalls, over-stocking, expiry dates), in order to permanently ensure security stock levels and ensure efficient management of stock.
  • Supervising orders of medical and drug material in order to ensure an efficient and appropriate consumption pattern under budget constraints.
  • Supervising the supply of drugs to patients, according to medical prescriptions, informing them on consumption patterns and keeping conditions in order to ensure their therapeutic progression
  • Ensuring efficient supply to other pharmacies managed/supported by MSF according to orders and stocks, and using cold chain when needed. Monitoring and analysing orders of depending pharmacies in order to avoid ruptures of stock or having expired drugs.

  • Support the PMR in the preparation of International Orders
  • Liaise with the supply department for everything concerning the management of stock (Orders, Inventory, Transport etc.)
  • Support the clinical team in the management of stock at end users’ units
  • Support the PMR in the monthly consumption stock analysis in order to avoid ruptures and waste of overstock drugs.

Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications

Education:

  • University Degree in the fields of Pharmacy / Pharmacy Management
  • Valid License and membership of a relevant professional body (essential).

Experience:

  • At least 1 year certified work experience as a pharmacy manager (essential)
  • Desirable working experience with MSF or other NGOs.

Languages:

  • English Language essential.

Job Title: Call for Consultants for baseline Research on Youth Development, Labour Market Research Development

Location: Abuja

Background

  • YAF is implementing a USAID funded project: Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE). On this Project, YAF is anchoring the Youth Development Cluster (YDC), comprising of 10 other civil society and private sector organizations working to strengthen social justice reforms for youths in Nigeria through effective advocacy for the implementation of the National Youth Policy (NYP) at state and national levels in Nigeria.
  • The concept of social justice means equal rights and equitable opportunities for all. It holds the view that everyone deserves equal economic, political and social rights and opportunities.
  • The YDC is advocating for the implementation of pillars 1 and 5 of the National Youth Policy specifically:
    • PILLAR 1 – Productive Workforce and Sustainable Economic Engagement of Youth.
    • PILLAR 5 – Effective Partnership- Building and Collaboration for Youth Development.
  • A major gap in the YDC advocacy is that there is limited empirical data on youth development and the opportunities in the emerging labour market for youths in Nigeria to strengthen implementation.
  • This project proposes to bridge this gap by first conducting baseline research so that interventions are evidence based for better impact.
  • It also seeks to explore the future of work for youths in Nigeria through labour market research on opportunities available for youth in an ever-changing world to guide interventions for youths. To this end, YAF is making this call for consultants to carry out 2 lots of research.

Consultancy 1: Baseline Research on the implementation of NYP

This research will achieve the following objectives:

  • Track and document all youth initiatives across all MDAs, Donors and Private Sector.
  • The result of this research will lay a foundation for evidence-based programming, informing the project of changes at critical stages over the life time of the project.
  • The research will also be linked to the monitoring and evaluation component of the project serving both as a baseline and means to capture progress and impact.
  • Analyse the political economy of youth development in Nigeria.
  • Ascertain the status of Implementation of the National Youth Policy 2019 – till date highlighting areas that require focus.
  • Assess the level of youth awareness of youth policies and programs and their accessibility to these programs.
  • Review and track MDA’s budget to check budget allocations and investments for youth empowerment/development at the federal level.
  • Assess what has been done under employment creation and enterprise development opportunities for youths by government in line with NYP.
  • Ascertain knowledge of MDAs of NYP and how they are mainstreaming it into their work.

Consultancy 2: Emerging Labour Markets for Youths

This research will achieve the following objectives:

  • Provide labour market information (LMI) indicators e.g. Population (age, growth/decline, immigration patterns); Unemployment rates; Number of employers; Change in number of employers by size of firm; Change in number of employers by industry; Changes in employment in SME.
  • Identify 5 key emerging sectors in the labour market that youth can gain easy access nationally and in project states: Lagos, Kano, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Abia and FCT.
  • What are the industry specific workforce issues that limit youth inclusion.
  • According to market trends what does the future of work and enterprise look like for youths.
  • Planning for the future: how do we make labour markets work for youths.

Methodology

  • In order to conduct the baseline research and emerging labour market research, the Consultants will employ mixed bag of methodologies (qualitative and quantitative methods) for data collection including but not limited to review of secondary data, semi- structured key informant interviews (draft developed by consultant in consultation with YAF) as well as focus group discussions and survey questionnaire to assess youth awareness of government policies for youths and youth programs.
  • In the Consultants proposal, we expect to see a detailed breakdown of how these different methods will be executed, which documents will be reviewed, which Key Informants will be interviewed and how the FGDs will be conducted.

Scope of Work

  • The consultants will familiarize himself/herself with the project’s goal and outcomes including its results and indicators and will, in close coordination with the YDC project team, draft a research protocol for each consultancy.
  • While this call targets the national level, we would like to see some evidence or data collection from the project states.

Key Deliverables

  • 1 Narrative report on baseline research
  • 1 Narrative report on Emerging Labour market research.
  • The 2 narrative reports should include an executive summary, methodology adopted, findings and recommendation. We expect to see graphical representation of some findings.

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be assessed on technical capacity and value for money. The candidates will be scored on the criteria (outlined below) this score will be weighted at 70%, the fees associated with the work will be weighted at 30%. After submission of the following documents: Cover letter explaining interest in the role, sample of previous work, budget of estimated costs, CV of team members. Evaluation criteria is as follows:

  • Proven technical understanding of the National Youth Policy and youth development/employability initiatives (either through CV or sample of previous work).
  • Availability in May – June 2022 and ability to deliver according to timelines
  • Proven technical capacity in conducting baseline research
  • For Labour market research experience conducting previous market research
  • Budget

Experience and Competencies of Consultant

The consultants should have the experience of conducting similar survey work and analysis. The consultant shall provide a mix of skills and expertise as outlined below:

  • Preferably Master’s Degree or higher in Social Sciences, Statistic or other related subject (A doctorate degree or Ph.D. will be an added advantage).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with research, development studies, surveys which includes leading a team of investigators.
  • Broad experience in producing study reports, as well as supervising & training enumerators in data collection, validation and entry.
  • Extensive theoretical and practical experience of youth development initiatives in Nigeria.
  • A good understanding of the provisions of the NYP in Nigeria and the political economy that impacts the development of youth.
  • Ability to submit a concise and well written analytical report on the results of the surveys in English.
