COMMENCEMENT OF N-POWER BATCH ‘C’ STREAM ‘2’ PHYSICAL VERIFICATION

The Directorate Headquarters is in receipt of a fetter from the Presidency through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development expressing appreciation and commendation to the National Youth Service Corps over its collaboration with the Ministry which led to successful onboarding of Five Hundred and Ten Thousand (510,000) N-Power beneficiaries in 2021.

It would please you to note that Mr. President has evaluated our partnership with the Ministry and expressed satisfaction with the conduct of our Local Government Inspectors under the supervision of the State Coordinators, ICT Officers and Zonal Inspectors. And having passed the integrity test, the Ministry has again, set necessary machineries in motion for physical verification of another Batch starting from Monday, 13″ to Friday, 24″ June, 2022.

While we are not unmindful of orientation course engagement during the period, the NYSC can not be seen to be an unwilling tool in executing Government’s policies especially one emanating from Mr. President himself and has direct impact on the lives of the vulnerable Nigerians.

In the light of the foregoing, and in view of the high premium placed on this exercise, State Coordinators are hereby requested to direct the ICT Units to get the systems ready as used in the last exercise.

The date set for the Npower Batch C physical verification exercise is the Monday 13th to Friday 24th June, 2022.

The physical verification is carried out in beneficiaries’ local government areas of resident as filled during your profile record update. So check your Nasims portal dashboard for details regarding the physical verification.

Things you must put in place before you register for NYSC Batch B 2022

The following things must be in place before you start your online registration:

  • Check if your name is on 2022 JAMB MATRICULATION LIST FOR NYSC BATCH B 2022 MOBILIZATION
  • Do your clearance in school and collect your Statement of Result
  • Do your school mobilization to enable your name being sent on Senate List
  • Check your name on NYSC 2022 BATCH B APPROVED SENATE LIST
  • Continue with online Registration if your name is on the Senate List

What will I do if my name is not on the Senate List

Your name not being on the Senate List could be as a result of your name being on error list due to one reason or the other. You can report back to your school or institution to fix it back before registration closes.

Also, your name will not be on the Senate List, if your documents have been uploaded to NYSC Dashboard. All you have to do is to report back to your school to enable them forward and submit hard copies of your credentials.

I registered last year 2021 but could not go for service due to one reason or the other, what should I do

Bertha Foundation is excited to announce the launch of the fourth Bertha Challenge: an opportunity for activists and investigative journalists to spend a year working on one pressing social justice challenge and to deliver a body of work at the end of the Fellowship year. Bertha Foundation Challenge Fellowships 2023 for Activists & Investigative Journalists (non-residential paid fellowship)

The Bertha Challenge is an opportunity for activists and investigative journalists to spend a year focussing on one pressing social justice issue.

How is the relationship between politics and corporate control of our food systems contributing to environmental devastation and hunger and how can food production center people and nutrition rather than profit?

Successful applicants receive a non-residential paid fellowship and a project budget to work independently and together to:

  • Investigate the causes of and solutions to the annual Bertha Challenge question
  • Amplify their findings to a wider targeted audience
  • Connect with diverse stakeholders for information, support and sustainable impact

Benefits

  • Income for each Bertha Fellow for one year
  • A Project Fund for each Bertha Fellow to produce a culminating product that responds to the question posed by the Bertha Challenge
  • A Connect Fund specifically designed to encourage collaboration between Fellows
  • Peer and mentor support in the form of regular virtual check-ins with Bertha staff and a cohort of Bertha Fellows
  • Global convenings of Bertha Fellows at the start and end of the Bertha Challenge.

Income for each Bertha Fellow for one year, not exceeding USD $64,900 and commensurate with the applicant’s current or equivalent salary at the host organization – ideally a media outlet for an investigative journalist and an NGO, community organization or social movement for an activist.

A Project Fund of up to USD $10,000 for each Bertha Fellow to produce their final projects that respond to the question posed by the Bertha Challenge, and that is directed towards a specific audience.

  • Access to a Connect Fund of up to USD $5000 specifically designed to encourage collaboration between Fellows
  • Regular online discussions with topics on a range of issues from current debates around food to methods of investigation, methods of communicating findings through news media, storytelling, popular education and more
  • Peer and mentor support in the form of regular virtual check-ins with Bertha staff and a cohort of Bertha Fellows
  • A global convening of Bertha Fellows at the start of the Bertha Challenge, and invitations to join alumni convenings after the end of the Fellowship year.

Deliverables

This is a full-time Fellowship. Bertha Fellows will spend their time working in their home countries and be required to:

  • Attend an in-person global convening that will take place towards the beginning of the Challenge
  • Develop and deliver a project that responds to the Bertha Challenge question
  • Participate in two virtual meetings per month, and occasionally facilitate these meetings
  • Develop local and global network relationships.

Selection Criteria:

  • Bertha endeavours to select an inclusive and representative cohort of Bertha Fellows that celebrates diversity.
  • Bertha Fellows will be selected on individual merit but also on their complementary skills to the cohort, their existing and/or proposed networks and prospects for long-term impact of their work.

Role Purpose

  • At an unprecedented time of change globally, the British Council seeks an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to oversee financial control specialism within the Finance Function in Nigeria.
  • The role is accountable for the operational and strategic leadership of British Council Nigeria’s Financial Control activities and team spread across different locations in the country.
  • Focusing on timely, accurate, complete financial accounting and reporting in line with internal organisational requirements and external regulatory standards, while acting as a trusted partner to the business delivery and operational support teams.
  • The role holder will act as the finance lead for the financial control function in Nigeria, leading the accounting team, and acting as one of the key finance business partners to senior management teams across Nigeria operations.
  • The role will manage a team of accountants based in multiple locations.
  • This role supports the Country Head of Finance with the end to end accounting process across the operation; including month and year end close, and ensures consistent, accurate and robust financial accounting processes in line with accounting practices and corporate policies.

Main Opportunities / Challenges for this Role

  • The role presents great opportunity for us in building a strong, efficient, effective, innovative and value driven financial control services for the British Council.

The role holder will:

  • Manage end to financial accounting function for Nigeria while ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness of accounting transactions and reporting
  • Act as one of the key finance business partners to senior managers across operations in Nigeria.
  • Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards (IFRS, FRS102 – The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland), and all relevant local statutory regulations, including tax-related legislations, foreign exchange policies, etc.
  • The finance function has gone through several change programmes, and the post holder will play a key role in sustainability and achieving desired results of the changes and improvement projects.
  • The organisation requires the financial function to have a level of commercial finance acumen as we expand our income generating activities, streamline our portfolio and target more partnership income. As a result, the role holder will play a key role in driving income target/performance.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience
  • At least 6 years in a similar finance role
  • Able to relay complex financial information in an easy-to-understand way to support non-financial managers to deliver against financial performance indicators
  • Experience of managing a diverse team or group of stakeholders in multiple locations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience of an ERP system (SAP preferably).
  • A very detailed understanding of financial control processes applicable to Commercial and/or Charitable organisations
  • Track record of managing key finance function in international / multinational organisation in similar context; and leading an efficient, innovative and result oriented team

Desirable:

  • Experience working with the Big 4 audit firm
  • Master’s degree
  • CFA, CGMA, CIMA, CITN
  • Deliver and support the implementation of stringent financial requirements to multi-disciplinary internal staff and external partners
  • Direct experience of applying financial controls and procedures within complex and high-risk operating environments to meet challenging contractual standards
  • Demonstrable experience of thinking creatively to design / redesign business processes to make measurable step-change efficiency gains
  • Experience of overseeing, supporting and significantly improving financial management capability and performance of individuals and teams outside of formal / direct line management control.

Remuneration

The  ‘Sport for One Humanity’ initiative established by Turkish Airlines and implemented with the support of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) is pleased to announce the extension of the call for applications to June 6 2022! Check below for more application information.

2022 Sport for One Humanity Initiative for civil society organizations in sport for development and peace.

The initiative aims to scale up the impact of civil society organizations that are working on projects relevant to the sport for development and peace (SDP) agenda from all over the world.

Following a competitive evaluation process, ten organizations will be selected as beneficiaries of a comprehensive capacity-building support programme. This will entail fully-funded face-to-face workshops, online training, visibility, as well as mentoring by assigned experts to strengthen the effectiveness of the recipient organizations’ work.

Applying organizations must:

  • be registered as a not-for-profit organization (civil society organizations including non-governmental organizations, community- based organizations, foundations, associations. trusts, charities) with recognized legal status in the country where activities are implemented.
  • have been operational for a minimum period of one year on the date of application.
  • manage a project relevant for the sport for development and peace agenda.
  • be directly responsible for the implementation of the proposed activities.

Eligibility Criteria for Projects

Submitted projects must:

  • contribute to promoting intercultural dialogue, strengthening diversity and fostering inclusive societies through sport.
  • have sufficient funding and resources for successful implementation of all activities.
  • be committed to diversity, equity and inclusion objectives when engaging with target groups.
  • be led by a project coordinator, who is an employee of the applying organization from the start of the project.

Requirements

  • The litigation surgery is open to women lawyers who work and reside in Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda;
  • Applicants must have a demonstrated interest in and/or knowledge of freedom of expression, digital rights, internet freedom and/or related issues;
  • Applicants must be proficient in English;
  • With their application, applicants are requested to submit a case study of a case that they are litigating or intend to litigate and that could be discussed during the litigation surgery. However, it will be sufficient for participants who do not have a case that is pending to have identified a relevant law, practice or policy relating to online freedom of expression that they would like to challenge in court. Such participants must demonstrate their ability and willingness to pursue the case after the surgery;
  • The following non-exhaustive list of themes are a guide for the type of cases that could be submitted with the application:

    Access to the internet
    Data privacy
    Data protection
    Defamation
    Hate speech
    National Security

Storekeeper at Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF)

Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare. Médecins Sans Frontières provides assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters and to victims of armed conflict. They do so irrespective of race, religion, creed or political convictions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executing the stock management activities (receipt, storage, and issuance to projects or other departments of medical supplies, food items, spare parts, tools, equipment and/ or other logistics materials), according to the line manager’s instructions and MSF standards and protocols, in order to ensure the overall functioning of MSF activities.

Accountabilities

  • Supervising materials and goods orders and dispatch in order to ensure its rational use.
  • Receiving orders and deliveries, identifying and reporting potential discrepancies against cargo manifest or others. Stores materials in accordance with the system in force in order to ensure continuous availability.
  • Updating and/or creating stock cards for all stock items immediately after reception of goods. Checking the received cold boxes and controlling the cold chain-monitoring card
  • Preparing orders on time before sending goods, and packs (according to transport means) weighs and labels freight with corresponding shipping number, destination, number of shipping units, waybill number, weight and mode of transport in accordance with the line manager’s instructions
  • In conjunction with the line manager, performing physical stock counts in accordance with the frequency previously defined. Following up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out and expiry dates.
  • Controlling warehouse limited access to authorized personnel and ensuring doors and other exits are secured. Immediately informing the line manager of any problems arising in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, attempted break-ins or theft in the warehouse.
  • Keeping a special control of “sensitive” goods: numbers of lots, expiry dates, packaging and special storage conditions

  • Receiving goods arriving to the store, checking its status/condition and amounts in the waybill

  • Ensuring cleanliness of common working areas
  • Ensuring proper use, storage and maintenance of the equipment and tools provided
  • Informing superiors of any incident that may occur in the course of his/her work
  • Helping MSF staff carry heavy items, if necessary
  • Ensuring that goods are well organized and stored in a clean area to be visible and traceable i.e. assisting in the stock inventory, storing items according to nature and use, and ensuring that the temperature in the store is appropriate and items that require cold chain are correctly stored
  • Carrying out basic maintenance of the store, ensuring security conditions (keeping unauthorized staff out, locking, etc….)

Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications
Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in warehousing or supply related studies.
  • Minimum of 2 years work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel databases and MS Office (Outlook, Word)

Experience:

  • Previous experience as storekeeper is desirable.
  • Essential knowledge of basic mathematics and use of measuring equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills .
  • This job description may be amended in line with the activities or evolution of the Mission.
  • Two years’ experience in Similar Role is desirable (Preferably working experience with MSF or other NGOS)
  • Knowledge of proper bookkeeping and inventory management
  • Familiarity with standard concepts and best practices in a stockroom or warehouse environment.

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) invite youth-led organizations, networks or coalitions to propose new and innovative ideas and solutions to support a just transition towards environmentally sustainable economies and societies for all. IsDB-ILO Youth Green Skills Accelerator Challenge 2022 for youth-led organizations

The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) recognize the leadership that young people have demonstrated in the fight against climate change and their key role in driving climate innovation, including amid the COVID-19 induced jobs crisis. To assist young people in further translating their activism, commitment and creativity into action, the two organizations have designed the “Youth Green Skills Accelerator Challenge Call”, with the overarching goal of promoting youth participation and skills for green jobs for a just transition.

Requirements

Any youth-led organizations, networks or coalitions with contractual and registered capacity that has been in existence for at least two calendar years prior to the call deadline. The applicant must be registered in IsDB – ILO common member States.

By organizations, networks or coalitions, we mean government agencies, employers’ and workers’ organizations, cooperatives, education and training institutions (including schools, training providers, and universities), NGOs and civil society organizations, and other educational and research institutions.

Prizes and benefits

Up to 10 finalists will receive mentoring and training for a period of one week to improve their projects. Following the period, 3 winners will be selected at the online pitch event and receive the following support:

Financial support

The top three ideas will be awarded USD 50,000; USD 30,000; and USD 20,000 respectively, to implement the proposed solution.

Technical support through an online Innovation Lab

Participation in the Innovation Lab: Through boot camps and remote mentoring, the winning proposals will receive technical support to turn, refine, develop, and pilot their ideas. The duration of the lab is between three and six months, depending on the stage of development of the solution.

Global visibility

The winning proposals will receive support to raise awareness of their ideas and solutions, including an invitation to attend COP 27, where they will present their projects; press articles in the media, videos, among others.

Access to a network of skills innovators

The winners and shortlisted entries will join the ILO Skills Innovation Network. They will be updated on the latest advances in innovation and skills development and get access to tools, resources and knowledge-sharing events that they can use to build new ideas and solutions

The New Business Challenge 2022 for Ghanaian students & young professionals

The New Business Challenge is a unique international Expedition Program where Dutch and Ghanaian students & young professionals explore the business relationship and opportunities between the two countries. This challenge is all about learning, exploring and innovating to improve the international business skills of the participating students & young professionals and to arrive at innovative business solutions for Dutch and Ghanaian companies.

The challenge exists of a Summer School and Expedition Trips to The Netherlands and Ghana.

Requirements

The NBC is open to Dutch and Ghanaian residents with the following requirements:

  • Holding a valid Dutch or Ghanaian passport (which has to be valid at least 6 months before traveling to Ghana or The Netherlands).
  • Covid-19 vaccinated (this is required to travel into The Netherlands and into Ghana)
  • Studying at a university (or HBO) or graduated for the maximum of 3 years;
  • A specific study background is not required as long as you are an entrepreneurial and an open minded candidate who can think independently and is motivated to explore business opportunities between The Netherlands and Ghana and might be interested in a career with an international component;
  • Not older than 28 years of age.

Summer School

15 – 19 August 2022

The Summer School is a 5 day program and takes place simultaneously in each country for 24 selected students & young professionals. The Summer School is all about learning in an interactive way about the business relationship between The Netherlands and Ghana, the existing policy programs and how business is being done between the two countries. The program is a combination of on location and online elements.  You will participate in lectures of experts, meet entrepreneurs, go on a company visit and collaborate online in intercultural teams to work on a real-life business case and familiarize yourself with the (work) culture of the other country. Experienced trainers will facilitate the program.

Expedition Trip NL

21 – 30 October 2022

Students & young professionals that participated in the Summer School in August 2022 can indicate that they want to join the Expedition Trips and apply for their placement in the Expeditions. Only 8 participants from each country will be selected to join the Expedition trips. In October of 2022, the 16 participants will meet in The Netherlands for the Expedition Trip NL. The Expedition Trip is all about exploring and innovating. Participants will go on 2 physical company visits and meet Dutch entrepreneurs that are doing business with Ghana. Participants will explore the business opportunities from the Dutch perspective and brainstorm in intercultural teams about innovative business solutions. A Dutch and a Ghanaian coach will jointly provide training and coaching.

Expedition Trip Ghana

10 – 19 October 2022

In October 2022, the 16 participants meet again, but now in Ghana for the Expedition Trip. Participants will go on 3 physical company visits and meet Ghanaian entrepreneurs that have a connection with The Netherlands. During the trip, you will explore the business opportunities from the Ghanaian perspective and brainstorm in intercultural teams about innovative business solutions. Participants will build on the skills and knowledge that they’ve acquired during the Summer School and the Expedition Trip NL. At the end of this Expedition Trip, the participants will present their solutions at an event at the Netherlands Ambassador’s Residence in Accra. A Dutch and a Ghanaian coach will jointly provide coaching and guidance to the participants.

Benefits

If you are selected for the Summer School, your accommodation costs are fully covered during the Summer School. And once you are selected to participate in the Expedition Trips, your travel- and accommodation costs are fully covered during the Expedition Trips.

Please note:

  • During the Summer School in Ghana all participants stay over at the same accommodation for the whole period of the Summer School (5 nights)
  • During the Expedition Trips all participants stay over at the same accommodation for the whole period of the study trip (9 nights each trip)

If you participate in the Summer School, you have the chance to go on two unforgettable Expedition Trips in the Netherlands and Ghana full of meetings, cultural exchange, field trips, sightseeing and of course fun!

Purpose of the Position

  • The Laboratory Officer will work in close collaboration with different States laboratory quality assurance officers in ensuring effective and quality laboratory services in selected LGAs.
  • Hierarchically, the Laboratory Officer reports to the Programme Coordinator.

  • Coordinate and supervise Connectivity Project supported laboratories to take initiatives to improve tuberculosis control through other TB Laboratory technologies.
  • In collaboration with QA officer, LGATBLS and other relevant stakeholders, support assessment and supervision of lab services in all supported labs.
  • Perform other additional duties as assigned.

Education:

  • A Degree in the Medical Laboratory Sciences and related fields (an MPH would be an advantage).

Knowledge / Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years working experience in TB and/or HIV programs.
  • Experience as laboratory quality assurance officer or laboratory manager.
  • Experience in working with: HIV & TB program; USAID projects or any development partner.
