U.S. Embassy Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program- Apply and work in USA here

This is great news for Nigerians who wish to live and work in the United States of America. We will like to notify you that the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Abuja are currently receiving applications from qualified persons who are willing to teach Hausa or Yoruba languages and cultures to American students in U.S. universities and colleges.

About the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program

The Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program is a nine month non-degree course funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education.

The objective of the program is to strengthen foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges, universities, and some high schools, while providing future teachers from abroad the opportunity to refine their skills, increase their English language proficiency, and expand their knowledge of U.S. society and culture.

FLTA fellows must return to their home countries upon completion of their programs to teach English at the secondary or university level.

General Qualifications and Requirements

All applications must meet the following criteria:

  • Applications must be completed and submitted online.
  • Applicants should request that the academic office of their institution send a stamped copy of their transcripts in a sealed envelope to: The Public Affairs Section, U.S. Embassy, Plot 1075 Diplomatic Drive, Central Area, Abuja, Attention: Cultural Affairs Officer.
  • Other documents to be submitted include academic credentials, signed and stamped letters of reference, and the photo page of a valid Nigerian passport.
  • Applicants must be teachers of English or in training to become teachers of English.
  • Applicants must possess a university degree in English, Language Arts, or combined honors.
  • Applicants must be fluent in English, demonstrated by a TOEFL score of 79-80 (Internet based testing) or 6.0 (overall score International English Language Testing System-IELTS).
  • Applicants must be between 21 and 29 years old at the time of application.
  • Applicants must demonstrate maturity, dependability, integrity and professionalism.
  • Applicants must be physically present in their home country throughout the nomination and selection process.

  • Prioritizes and supports customer enquiries via email in timely manner.
  • Handles incoming calls and refers callers to appropriate department or personnel.

  • Investigates customer complaints in a timely manner ensuring a satisfactory outcome.
  • Ensures in-depth knowledge of the products or services offered by the company.
  • Prepares and maintains spread sheets, reports, relevant databases.
  • Liaises with other teams or departments on a regular basis.
  • Understand the compnay’s business process
  • Assists in office administrative duties including answering and fielding telephone calls, word processing, and document filing, faxing and scanning.
  • Conducts arrival and departure in all areas of the front office by receiving and attending to clients/visitors.

Degree Requirements/Qualifications

  • HND/BSC (or equivalent) in Business Administration/Management Studies, Consumer Studies or Marketing, secretarial studies.
  • Chartered Member status with the Institute of Customer Service (ICS) will be advantageous.

Job Description

  • Do you possess audit instincts that will enable you conduct audit of Montaigne’s financial reports and assess internal control system?
  • Are you willing to use your investigative skills to conduct investigations or forensic audit if fraudulent activities are suspected?

Job Responsibilities
You will assist the audit unit to;

  • Keep record to conform with tax law and to provide financial data for the management of Montaigne Business.
  • Ensures that costs and revenue are properly captured.
  • Make adequate provision for cost, Bank Charges, etc.
  • Maintain Asset Register and compute monthly depreciation.
  • Prepare income tax and other government report.
  • Prepare weekly creditors and debtors schedule.
  • Prepare report of daily bank log.
  • Prepare report of daily bank balances.
  • Administer and reconcile all bank accounts, investigating any irregularities, and taking appropriate action (escalate when necessary).

Reporting Relationships:

  • Functionally reports into: Head, Internal Auditor
  • Administratively reports to: Head, Internal Auditor
  • Supervises: None

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Error free reconciliation statement
  • Satisfaction of internal customers
  • Level of adherence to accounting operating procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • B.Sc or HND in Accounting or related discipline

Required Auditing Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience
