EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program (OFP) | U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Nigeria 2019 Application

The United States Embassy, Nigeria are looking for academically qualified and highly motivated, low-income students in Nigeria to join the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program (OFP).

Opportunity Funds Program (OFP) finances the cost of the application process, which includes registration fees for required standardized examinations and also provide free membership to the U.S. EducationUSA Advising Center for its participants.

Who can apply for the EducationUSA Opportunity Funds Program (2019)?

Applicants are welcome from all the states in Nigeria. However, students must be able to reach U.S. Embassy & Consulate in Nigeria offices in Abuja or Lagos on a monthly basis during the program for full participation.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The selection of finalists for OFP is highly competitive, given limited funding. The program look for applicants with:

  • Strong academic record/ transcript
  • Robust participation in extracurricular activities
  • Involvement in leadership roles
  • Excellent community service participation
  • Financial Need

NOTE:  Undergraduate Applicants– If WAEC results are not available; the student must be currently in SS3. If WAEC results are available, they must be from May/June WAEC.

Students who have already started a University education are NOT eligible to apply.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Complete Application Form
  • Academic Results:
    Undergraduate Applicants– Attach a copy of your WAEC “O” Level results (from WAEC website).  Include Cambridge A’Level or IGSCE results if applicable or available.
    Graduate Applicants– Attach a copy of your Final year results and degree results (if available) First Class only (STEM majors preferred).
  • Letters of recommendation:
    Undergraduate Applicants: Request a teacher or your school principal to complete a letter of recommendation form, attesting to your character, talent and skills.  Please do not include a basic testimonial that does not talk about you as an individual.
    Graduate Applicants: Provide the details of a lecturer, professor, or Head of Department (HOD) that we can contact to find out more about you.
  • Transcript:
    Undergraduate Applicants: Send a scanned copy of your transcript from JS1 to SS3 including your mock and first term results, if possible.
    Graduate Applicants– Send a scanned copy of your transcripts that show a GPA of 4.5 or above on a 5.0 scale. 
  • Essays:
    Write two essays, one from Group A and one from Group B, each of about 250– 300 words. The essay topics will be on the application form you receive. (Essay topics will be found on the form)

Trader Moni Payment Structure and How to Collect Higher Amount

The first stage, you collect ₦10,000. When you pay back ₦10,250 before or within 6 months, you will be able to collect ₦15,000.

When you collect ₦15,000, you are expected to pay back ₦15,375 before or within 6 months, you will be able to collect ₦20,000 loan.

When you collect ₦20,000, you are expected to pay back ₦21,000 before or within 6 months, you will be able to collect ₦50,000 loan.

When you collect ₦50,000, you are expected to payback ₦52,500 before or within 6 months, you will be able to collect ₦100,000 loan which you are also expected to pay.

  • 2 cups (125 ml) fruit
  • 1cup (375 ml) liquid
  • 3 to 4 ice cubes
  • 2 to 4 Table spoon of protein powder (optional)
  • Sweetener (honey, date etc.), to taste (optional)
  • Spices(depending on the one you like), to taste (optional)

The beauty of making your own smoothie is that you are free to experiment with various healthy mixtures. You can develop your own recipe for your delight and that of your family.

Basically what you need are-

  • The fruits you want to use
  • The liquid or dairy product you want to use
  • The thickener you want to use

Step by Step Guide on How to Make Smoothie at Home in Nigeria

First Step

Step 1

Select the fruit you want to use to make the drink (pineapple, berries, banana etc.)

How to Make a Smoothie with Frozen Fruit

Buy your fresh ripe fruits, slice them, and put them in freezer bags or bowls with cover, place in the freezer to freeze them. Fruit can be frozen for up to 9 months.

Step 2

Prepare your blender- It is more convenient to use a blender when preparing your drink, because it achieves smoother consistency.

Step 3

Add the Fruit, Liquid and Dairy (in the blender)

For the fruit

After selecting the fruit, cut them into smaller pieces and place in the blender

For the liquid in your smoothie recipe, use 1 cup of:

  • Fruit juice
  • Juice blend
  • Coconut water
  • Water

Then add 1 cup of:

  • Milk or dairy-free milk substitute (plain or flavored)
  • Yogurt (plain or flavored)

Measure in a glass measuring cup and add both mixtures (liquid and dairy) to the fruit in the blender.

Step 4

You may want to add thickener to your smoothie to give it a fuller look. This is optional

If you want to thicken your smoothie, there are many ways to achieve it.

  • You can use frozen fruit instead of fresh fruit
  • Add banana or avocado to your smoothie (Avocado, Mango, pumpkin)
  • You can reduce the amount of liquid you use
  • You can add nuts

Add ice cubes (optional)

Blend it- Ensure you have put the lid on the blender, turn it on, place it to blend at medium speed. As the blender gradually does its work on the fruit you can increase the speed. When you achieve the required texture, you can put it off.

Qualifications, Requirements and Evaluations

Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:  Four (4) years’ experience in both janitorial and landscaping/gardening services, which includes two (2) years of supervisory experience is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must be familiar with the theories and practices of landscaping and janitorial services. Must be familiar with how to organize and plan the tasks of a multi-talented work force.
Education Requirements:

Completion of Secondary School or  high school diploma

Evaluations:This may be tested
LANGUAGE:  Level III (Good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing English is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to use web-based systems for work orders and requests, keyboard and numerical skills are required.  Must be capable of training or instructing subordinates and supervise work independently.  Must be able to perform heavy physical work, as well as ability to safely use all gardening and janitorial tools, equipment and supplies are required.  Must be able to read, understand, adhere to and ensure compliance with product and equipment instructions, follow established standard work procedures, safety and health policies and procedures.  Must have a valid Nigeria driver’s license.

NNPC Aptitude Test 2019/2020 Update

A release on Wednesday in Abuja by the corporation’s Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, said the Second Phase of the exercise involving shortlisting of qualified candidates had started.

He further explained, that the qualified ones among them would be invited to participate in a computer-based aptitude tests.

The tests would be administered in about 50 centres across the country, saying those who emerge successful in the tests would subsequently be invited for oral interviews for final selection.
