JAMB Announces New Cut-Off Mark 2020- JAMB Meeting Latest Update

This is to notify all our readers especially the admission seekers, that JAMB has just announced a new cut-off mark after much deliberation at the JAMB stakeholders meeting.

JAMB Meeting Update 2021

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has set a new cut off mark for admission into higher institutions for the 2020 academic session.

This was disclosed at the JAMB policy meeting which was held online. The cut-off mark for admission into tertiary institutions is now 160 and above as opposed to 180 and above in previous year.

From the meeting, it was gathered that a total of 612, 557 candidates were offered admission in 2019 and about 510,957 admission spaces were unused by tertiary institutions in 2019.

The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has said that candidates waiting for their results (SSCE, WAEC, NECO, NAMTEB etc) will only be considered for admission when they are uploaded on its website.

The Minister of Education, has directed JAMB and tertiary institutions to proceed with the conduct of 2020/2021 admissions.

In line with this information, admission processes are expected to commence in August, 2020 based on the guidelines released by JAMB. It was also advised that candidates with older (previous years) SSCE result be considered first for admission.

JAMB CUT OFF MARK FOR ALL UNIVERSITIES

The JAMB cut off mark for universities is 160 and above. Please note that it is advisable to score higher as candidates with higher scores will be considered first.

JAMB CUT OFF MARK FOR ALL POLYTECHNICS

The JAMB cut off mark for polytechnics is 120 and above. Please note that it is advisable to score higher as candidates with higher scores will be considered first in top Nigerian polytechnics.

What is JAMB CAPS Admission Transfer Approval Portal?

The JAMB CAPS Transfer Approval Page is one of the new features of the JAMB CAPS as stated earlier. The candidates now have the right to either accept or reject the transfer.

Follow the steps below to recover your JAMB Portal password and email.

  • Go to JAMB eFacility forgot password recovery page here.
  • Enter the email address and the date of birth you filled in during registration

  • Click on “Get password reset link“.
  • Login to your email account and click on click on the reset link (you can also check your spam mails, if it doesn’t show in your inbox).
  • The reset link will redirect you to the JAMB portal and ask you to choose a new password.

Please Note: After completing the steps above, you might receive a message saying “We are sorry, the page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or had processing error or is temporarily unavailable”. Don’t panic. Proceed and check your email inbox for the password reset link.

How can I resolve invalid details email error on JAMB Portal?

When this kind of message “invalid details” appears on your screen when you want to log in to your JAMB Portal as displayed below, do not panic.

It could be that an error was made during the JAMB registration process.

All you have to do is to look for your JAMB Photocard that contains the email address used.

From experience, we noticed that some candidates had errors such as

  • Email address missing a letter
  • Email address containing a number etc

When such errors are noticed you can do any of the following

  1. Create an exact email with the one on your JAMB print out
  2. If the email already exist, you may want to send a mail to the original owner of the email address. Many would be willing to help.
  3. Visit any of the JAMB approved CBT centres nationwide (preferably the one you registered).

  1. Go to http://www.jamb.org.ng/efacility/.
  2. Input your Email Address and Password and login.
  3. Click on ‘Check 2019 UTME/DE Admission Status on CAPS‘.
  4. Select ‘Admission Status‘ on the left panel.
  5. Click on the ‘Search‘ button in front of your JAMB Registration Number to load your profile.
  6. You can now accept your admission offer under ‘Admission Profile’.

If you want to access the JAMB CAPS portal with a mobile device, we recommend you use google chrome browser and open the desktop browser view.

The usual cut-off mark set by JAMB is 180 for Pharmacy, but not all schools accept this score as some schools like Ahmadu Bello University, University of Benin, University of Ibadan etc. set their Nursing Cutoff mark between 250-270 and above.

Other courses like Law, Medicine and Surgery, Nursing are also very competitive and you must also score very high to stand a chance of getting admission into the university of your choice.

Post UTME Cutoff Mark for Pharmacy in all universities

You would already know that to gain admission into any university does not depend on how high you performed in JAMB but also how well you perform in the Post-UTME screening/Exam of your choice institution.

While some schools write screening exams, others just screen the qualifications such as WAEC result etc.

How to gain admission to study Pharmacy in any university 2020

The reason you have read all this, is simply because you are serious about gaining admission to study your dream course-Nursing.

To gain admission into universities that base their admission selection on the average score between your JAMB Score and Post UTME score,you must do very well in both exams, however, if you didn’t score so high in JAMB, all hope is not lost as you can make up for it in your 2020 Post UTME.

For Universities that conduct post utme, if you are applying for Nursing Science, you must have at least a minimum Post UTME score of 65-70%. This would increase your chances of getting your dream admission this year.

Please know that this course is very competitive and as such you must work very hard to scale through.

It is also important that you got good grades in your SSCE/O’level/NABTEP/NECO etc.

  9. Once you select this service, a Transaction ID is generated.
  10. Review the details displayed on the Confirmation Page. Also, note the Transaction ID displayed in a bold red font. The Transaction ID is useful for all future references concerning the Transaction. A copy of this transaction ID will be sent to your registered email address.
  11. Click on the Continue button if you wish to pay with your card immediately. If you wish to use other payment channels like ATM, Cash at the Bank or Quickteller, please note the transaction ID as it will be required.
  12. On the Interswitch Payment page, enter your card details and click on the Pay button.
  13. The status of your payment will be displayed on the “My Payment Section” An SMS and email containing your unique Transaction Identification and payment status will be sent to you after payment.
  14. Click on the Continue button.
  15. Once payment is completed, you will be asked to provide the following:
    Year of Exam and
    b. JAMB Registration Number
  16. After entering the information correctly, new options for preferred course/institution and second choices will appear. Options available will be based on availability.
  17. Click Submit to complete your application.

How to do JAMB Change of Course and Institution 2020/2021- JAMB Correction of Data

JAMB DATA CORRECTION- This is to notify all those who during the course of applying for the 2020/2021 JAMB examination made mistakes while filling their JAMB registration forms or wish to change their choice of school or course of study, that they can now make corrections for the below listed items:

  • Correction of Name
  • State/LGA of Origin
  • Choices of Institution/Courses
  • Gender Correction
  • Date Of Birth

Important Notice-The JAMB corrections are not free, you will be expected to pay a non-refundable fee of Two Thousand Five Hundred Naira Only (N2, 500) with your master card online.

We will also like to inform you, that you cannot change your institution to an institution that has already concluded its screening exercise.

JAMB PROCEDURE TO CHANGE COURSE OR CHANGE INSTITUTION 2020/2021

  • Create a JAMB profile via the Sign Up (New User) or existing users, simply type in your login details.
  • Login with your email address and password.
  • Once logged in, you will be taken to the landing page where you will see all available services.
  • Select “Correction of Data”. This is available on the side bar or on the Home page
  • Once selected, the menu item “Course/Institution” will be revealed. Click this.
  • Once you select this service, a Transaction ID is generated for this service. This will be displayed on the confirmation page screen.
  • Click on the Continue button if you wish to pay with your card immediately. If you wish to use other payment channels like ATM, Cash at the Bank or Quickteller, please note the transaction ID as it will be required.
  • Once payment is completed, you will be asked to provide the following:

How to Create A Profile on JAMB CAPS Portal- Login & Accept 2020/2021 Admission

JAMB CAPS PORTAL- JAMB PROFILE

All those who successfully registered for the 2020 JAMB UTME exam automatically has a JAMB CAPS profile created for them. The only thing required from such candidates is to use the email address and password that was used during the registration to login. You can login to your JAMB CAPS Portal Here.

In 2017 JAMB officials promised that everything regarding tertiary institutions admission will be strictly carried out on the JAMB PORTAL/profile of candidates and only at approved CBT centres in the country.

JAMB CAPS simply means Central Admission Processing System.

It is important you know that your JAMB PORTAL has a lot of important uses.

You can use it to check your JAMB admission status

You can use it to accept or reject your JAMB admission

You can use it to change your institution or JAMB course

You can use it to print your original JAMB result, and you can also use it to print your original JAMB ADMISSION LETTER.

After checking your admission status on your JAMB CAPS Portal and accepting the admission, you can printout your JAMB admission letter.

Please note that this is important to your admission/academic process. This is the new system that JAMB will use to assess all candidates’ qualifications to be eligible and granted admission into institutions of their choice.

JAMB MOCK EXAM 2019– For the sake of clarity, we will like to inform all our readers especially those who registered for the 2019 JAMB UTME  exercise that the 2019 JAMB Mock Exam is optional. It has nothing to do with your JAMB final score as it is only conducted to give you an idea of the exam conditions and also familiarize yourself with the procedures and usage of the computer based test (CBT).

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB has recently announced the date for the JAMB Mock Exam for 2019. The mock exam is slated for Saturday the 23rd of March, 2019.

When is JAMB 2019 UTME Mock Exam Date?

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has fixed Saturday, March 23rd, 2019 for the 2019 mock exam. As stated above, the main purpose of the JAMB mock exam is to allow candidates have an idea of what to expect on the main exam day.

When can I print JAMB UTME Mock 2019 Slip?

Printing your 2019 JAMB Mock e-Slip is not difficult. You must know that this slip is important, because without this slip you won’t be allowed into the exam hall.

Dr Fabian Benjamin, the JAMB Head of Media, in a statement released on the 3rd of March, 2019, said “candidates are by this information, urged to begin the printing of their Mock Examination Notification slips from Wednesday 6th March, 2019.”
“The Board enjoined all candidates to jealously guard all their details pertaining to the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME/DE) Direct Entry“.

How can I print JAMB UTME Mock Slip 2019?

If you did not register for the mock exam, you won’t see the link on your JAMB portal to print out this mock slip. It is strictly for those who registered.

The printing of mock exam slip would begin on the 6th of March, 2019. The details of the exam will be sent to your mobile phones and email.

Right steps to take to reprint

  • Visit JAMB e-Facility Portal http://www.jamb.org.ng/efacility/PrintMockExaminationSlip
  • Input your JAMB Registration Number or email address you used to create your Jamb profile.
  • Click on the “Print Examination Slip” for the Pop-Up to Print and you are done.

You need this slip to enter the cbt exam hall. You will also need to make a payment of N700 to the CBT centre you are going to write the JAMB Mock exam.

How to check Admission Status on JAMB CAPS 2020/2021 Portal

We explained JAMB CAPS in a previous article and how to accept or reject your admission. This article, is to help you know if you have gained admission via your JAMB CAPS portal.

How to check your 2020/2021 admission status on JAMB CAPS Portal

  • If you are using a mobile device, use google chrome or firefox browser
  • Go to your JAMB CAPS PORTAL HERE
  • Scroll down to check JAMB CAPS UTME/DE Admission status.
  • Click on UTME/DE Admission to accept/reject your admission.
  • Your JAMB score, institution, date of birth, etc will appear when you have successfully logged in.
  • If you are given admission and you are okay with the institution click on accept admission.
  • If the institution and course space is empty/you have not been offered admission keep checking back, don’t panic.
  • Do not accept admission when you have not been offered admission or when you are expecting admission from another school.
  • If you accept the admission you can not accept any other school admission, so be sure before accepting.
  • If you see welcome on your screen when you open JAMB CAPS it’s because you are using a mobile device. Simply use desktop version to see the menu and then you can click on check admission status (Click on the three dots on Google Chrome and scroll down to see desktop site).

What is not admitted on JAMB CAPS portal?

It simply means that no school has offered you admission yet, but don’t worry, all you have to do is logout and keep checking your portal regularly.

  6. Send the document to your printer

As stated by JAMB Board, the reprinting of JAMB slip 2019 will begin on the 2nd of March, 2019. As stated earlier it is important you reprint your slip.
