  • Add 1.25L of the methylated spirit into the bottle
  • Finally make the volume to the 1.5L mark of the bottle (i.e 203ml of the water)
  • Shake very well and label the bottle properly (to avoid accidental consumption of the liquid)

  • 165 grams – Caustic Soda;
  • 245 grams – Soda Ash;
  • 35 litre – water;
  • 480 grams – C.M.C (Carboxy methyl cellulos)/ Antisol/ Nitrosol;
  • 6-16 tea-spoons – Formaline (may not use);
  • 6-16 teaspoons – Sodium Laurate Sulphate (SLS);
  • Colorant and a perfume (fragrance)

EQUIPMENT NEEDED TO MAKE HOME MADE LIQUID SOAP

  • Bottles
  • Cans
  • Gloves
  • Measuring bowl
  • Spoon
  • Water

HOW TO MAKE LIQUID SOAP FOR  WASHING CLOTHES AND PLATES ETC. (Preparation Method)

  • Place the caustic soda in about 2 litres of water, leave the mixture for one hour or overnight.
  • Also place the soda ash in about 2 litres of water, leave it to soften for one hour or also overnight.
  • Pour sulphonic acid into measuring bowl, add texapon, for pleasant smell of your liquid soap add a perfume (fragrance), then add 10 litres of water, stir the mixture carefully for about 10 minutes.
  • Place Sodium Laurate Sulphate (SLS) in 1.25 litres of water. Also do the same for Sodium Tripoyphosphate (STPP).
  • Add nitrosol. If you decide to use Carboxyl methyl cellulose instead, ensure you place it in 10litres of water 2 days before you use it to produce the liquid soap.
  • Now add the caustic soda and stir carefully, add soda ash and again mix accurately. If you wish to use formaline, add it also and stir.
  • Add S.T.P.P and stir well, add SLS and stir again. You can now proceed to add the desired color you need and stir.
  • Finally add water to level, till you achieve your desired texture of the liquid soap.
  • You can package it and start using or selling.

What are the steps in producing coconut oil at home?

The method we would be showing you today is called the “Hot Process” and it is the traditional method that has been used for ages. It does not require the use of any machine, the only equipment needed is simple everyday kitchen tools. This method requires time to produce the oil, but the process is very easy.

Steps

  1. Extract the flesh from the coconut and grate it.
  2. Extract the coconut milk from the flesh by squeezing it with your hands in a muslin cloth. Ensure there is a bowl below the cloth to collect the liquid. You can add very little hot water to it to make it easy to handle and squeeze out all the milk.
  3. Sieve the extracted coconut milk using a muslin cloth to remove any impurities.
  4. Place the coconut milk in a pot and put it on fire.  Let it cook for 2 to 3 hours; ensure the heat is kept low.
  5. Keep stirring it till the milk becomes brownish in colour. Be careful so it doesn’t burn.
  6. Once the milk becomes concentrated, remove it from the fire and let it cool down.
  7. Place the cooled thickened milk in a muslin cloth and squeeze out the oil.
  8. Store the extracted oil in a plastic air tight bottle.

How long does coconut oil last?

Homemade coconut oil can last for a year or 7-10 months depending on the condition the oil is kept. It is important you keep the coconut oil extract in an airtight container and also don’t leave it out in the open else it can get contaminated and lose its important qualities.

Nigerian Navy are informing the general public and all interested applicants that the online registration for the 2020 Recruitment Exercise has commenced and will close on the 21st of April, 2020.

NIGERIAN NAVY RECRUITMENT EXERCISE 2020

Interested candidates are advised to read the following instructions thoroughly before completing the Nigerian Navy online Recruitment Form.  Any incomplete or wrongly completed Form will be rejected and will not be processed.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES FOR NIGERIAN NAVY 2020 RECRUITMENT EXERCISE

  1. Applicants must be citizen of Nigeria by birth.
  2. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 – 22 years by 31 December 2020 for School Certificate holders and 18 – 26 years for those with higher qualifications such as Nurses, NCE, OND, drivers etc.
  3. Applicants must not be married or have children.
  4. Applicants must be free from any previous criminal conviction by a court of law.
  5. Applicants with any of the following medical/physical challenges are NOT to apply: sight problem, ear problem, communicable diseases, mental problems, stammering, or any physical disability. Applicants who have tattoos are also not to apply.
  6. Applicants must not be below the height of 1.69 meters for males and 1.650 meters for females.
  7. Applicants are required to possess any of the following educational/Professional qualifications.
  • West African School Certificate/Senior Secondary School Certificate (not more than 2 sittings and not older than 6 years from the date of application, also applicable to sub paragraphs b – e)
  • General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level
  • National Examination Council (NECO).
  • National Business and Technical Examinations (NABTEB).
  • WAEC City and Guilds or London City and Guild.
    f. Ordinary National Diploma (OND).
  • Any other educational qualification equivalent to those mentioned above.
    h. Applicants would be required to produce their primary school leaving certificate at the selection interview.
  • All applicants must indicate/provide their National Identification Number (NIN).
  • Applicants are to note that entry requirement into the following categories is SSCE or equivalent: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5 C1, D1, D2, D4, D5, D6, E1, E2, E3, E4, F1, G, H. Any other additional qualifications in these categories can only serve as an added advantage for selection into the branch and shall not attract any extra advantage whatsoever.   1. Applicants with other educational/professional qualifications higher than those stated in paragraph 1 (a-g) are not to apply. Applicants are warned that it is an offence to present false or forged documents for the Recruitment.
  2. Certificates or qualifications not declared or tendered and accepted during the recruitment exercise are not acceptable after recruitment and cannot be tendered for the purpose of change of department or advancement while already in the Nigerian Navy. Only qualifications obtained under proper service provisions are acceptable while in the Nigerian Navy.

  8. Duly completed Parent/Guardian Consent Form signed by Applicant’s Parent or Guardian.
  9. Four passport photographs duly signed and stamped at the back by (c) above.
    f. Candidates are to bring the scratch cards of their NECO and WAEC results to the recruitment centres.

A 1 – Marine Engineer Artificer (MEA)

Minimum of OND Lower Credit in Marine or Mechanical Engineering and 5 credits at SSCE or equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

A2 – Weapon Electrical Artificers (WEA)

Minimum of OND Lower Credit in Electrical Electronic Engineering and 5 credits at SSCE or equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

A3 – Aircraft Engineering Artificers (Airframe Engine) Qualification

Diploma in Airframe and Engine certified/recognized by ICAO and 5 credits at SSCE or equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

A4 – Aircraft Engineering Artificers (Avionics & Aircraft Electrics, Electrical / Electronics) (AEA-AA/EEE)

Certificate/Diploma in Aircraft Electrics & Avionics recognized by ICAO and 5 credits at SSCE or equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

A5 – Hull Engineer Artificers (HEA)

Minimum of OND Lower Credit in Marine or Mechanical Engineering and 5 credits at SSCE or equivalent including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

B1 – Marine Engineer Mechanics (MEM)

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Also intermediate City & Guilds or Trade Test II could be considered. Technical bias will be an advantage.

B2 – Weapon Electrical Mechanics (WEM)

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Also intermediate City & Guilds or Trade Test II could be considered. Technical bias will be an advantage.

B3 – Hull Mechanical/Fitters (HMF)

Requirements as in B1 and B2 with additional trade in plumbing, welding, machining or woodwork.

B4 – Automobile Mechanics (AM)

Requirements as in B1.

B5 – Dockyard Mechanics (DM)

Requirements as in B1.

C1 – Communications

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics and Physics

C2 – Computer

Minimum of OND Lower Credit in Computer Studies/Computer Science, Desktop Publishing, Office Suite and must also possess SSCE or equivalent with 5 Credits including English Language and Mathematics.

C3 – ICT

Minimum of OND Lower Credit in Computer Studies/Computer Science. Computer literacy is compulsory and must possess SSCE or equivalent with 5 Credits including English Language, Mathematics and Physics. Proficiency or industrial certification in any of the under listed areas shall be an added advantage:

  1. Database.
  2. Computer-Aided Design.
  3. Personal Computer Maintenance.
  4. Networking Fundamentals.
  5. Website Development and Management.
  6. Programming.

D1 – Seaman

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language and Mathematics.

D2 – Survey Recorders

Minimum of OND Lower Credit in Land Survey, Cartography, Geographic Information System and must also possess SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics or Geography or Technical Drawing.

D3 – Sports Men and Women

Athletes should possess SSCE or equivalent with 4 credits including English Language and proven talents in sports as well as evidence of participation in National Sports Festival. Alternatively, candidates must have participated in any National Championship/All African Games/Olympic Games or Any International Competitions with License from National Sports Federation/State Sports Association.

D4 – Physical Training Instructors

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language. Interest and proven talents in sports as well as evidence of participation in sports at Secondary School/State/YSFON level is required.

D5 – Chaplain Assistants

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language and Christian Religious Knowledge. Two years experience as clergy/church worker as well as letter of recommendation from 2 Clerics/churches recognized by the NN is required.

D6 – Mosque Assistants

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including Arabic, Islamic Religious Knowledge and English Language. Two years experience as Imam/Mosque attendant as well as letter of recommendation from 2 Islamic clerics/organizations recognized by the NN is required.

D7– Firemen

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language.

E1 – Writers

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Maths, Accounts/Economics. Computer skill is compulsory. Also OND/NCE in Accounts or Secretariat Administration would be added advantage.

E2 – Store Assistants

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Maths and Economics. Computer skill is an added advantage.

E3 – Caterers

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language and Home Management/Food Nutrition. Certificate or any proven experience as a Waiter or Steward is an advantage.

E4 – Ordinance

Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any other 2 subjects.

E5 – Project Technicians

Minimum of OND Lower Credit in relevant discipline such as Architecture, Quantity Survey, Civil/Structure/Building Technology, Electrical/Mechanical installation, Urban and Rural Planning, Estate Management, Land Economy and must also possess SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Maths and Physics.

F1 – Medical Assistants

SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits in English Language, Maths, Chemistry, Biology/Health Science and Physics.

F2 –Health Technicians

The under listed Technicians are under F2:

  1. Biomedical Engineering Technician.
  2. Dental Surgery Assistant/Dental Health Technician.
  3. Dispensing Optician Technician.
  4. Environmental Health Technician.
  5. Medical Imaging/X-Ray Technician.
  6. Medical Laboratory Technician.
  7. Medical Records Assistant/Health Information Management Technician.
  8. Pharmacy Technician.
  9. Physiotherapy Technician.

A minimum qualification of OND Lower Credit or Professional qualification in any of the relevant fields stated above plus SSCE/Equivalent with 5 credits including English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Health Science and Mathematics.

G – Bandsmen

H – Drivers/Mechanics

SSCE or Equivalent with 5 credits including English Language. Current Mechanic apprenticeship certificate and evidence of driving experience with a verse drivers license as well as a letter of recommendation [as a mechanic] from past or present employer is required.

J – Journalists

Minimum of OND Lower Credit in Mass Communication, Journalism, Photography, Printing Technology, Information Library, Public Relations, Graphic Arts, Film Making or Cinematography and must also possess SSCE or equivalent with 5 credits including English Language and Mathematics.

K – Nurses

Single qualification RN and double qualification in any relevant qualification such as RM, A&E, ENT, Psychiatric, Pediatric, Orthopedic/Trauma, Ophthalmic, Anesthetic, Public Health, Occupational Health, Nephrology/Dialysis and Theatre Nursing. Applicants must possess SSCE or equivalent with 5 including English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Science, Physics and Chemistry.

N – Education

NCE in Arts/Science/Technical subjects in addition to SSCE or equivalent with 5 Credits including English Language and Mathematics for Science/Technical subjects or 5 credits Including English Language and at least a pass in Mathematics for Arts subjects.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS

  1. The Nigerian Navy recruitment 2020 exercise will commence with screening of applicants’ credentials and an aptitude test at designated centres nationwide on a date to be announced later.

  • Go to WAEC GCE Result checking portal via www.waecdirect.org.
  • Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number.  (This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 4123456789)
  • Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2019
  • Select the Type of Examination  i.e. PRIVATE CANDIDATE RESULT
  • Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card.
  • Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card
  • Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up.

  1. Make a payment of a non-refundable fee of Seven Thousand, Seven Hundred Naira (N7,700.00) only through any commercial bank into University College Hospital, Ibadan T.S.A. Account- School of Nursing. Teller to be changed to receipt at UCH Accounts Department.
  2. Make a payment of Two Hundred Naira (#200.00) only into Oyo State Nursing & Midwifery Committee Account, First Bank Plc. 2019704292
  3. Present both the UCH receipt and First Bank teller for the payment of #200.00 at Room 6, School of Nursing to collect PIN (Personal Identification Number) for login and online application submission.
  4. Go to the portal on https://portal.uch-ibadan.org.ng, download the Applicants’ User Guide and enter your PIN (Personal Identification Number) to login and create your account.
  5. Follow instructions on the Applicants’ User Guide to input your data and submit your application online.
  6. Print 2 copies of your form and Photo card and submit for authentication at Room 6, School of Nursing

Method of Selection:

(i) Applicants shall be notified of the date, venue and time for Computer Based (CBT) Entrance Examination through their e-mail addresses and text messages

(ii) Only candidates with authenticated (stamped and signed) Photo cards shall be allowed into examination venue.

(iii) Only candidates who attain acceptable standard at the examination shall be invited for interview or considered for selection following interview.

How to become a certified Nurse in Nigeria

To become a nurse in Nigeria, there are two major options available to you, in order to achieve your dream.

School of Nursing Admission Form in Nigeria

First Option to become a certified Nurse in Nigeria

  • Apply to become a nurse using JAMB. Buy JAMB form fill it with your desired course of study (in this case nursing), write the exams, ensure you use the right subject combination (English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry).
  • Wait for JAMB result, ensure you score up to the approved cut-off mark for Nursing (click here to see the approved cut-off mark for Nursing in all schools in Nigeria).
  • Get POST UTME form for the school, write the exam/screening.
  • If you are admitted successfully, you can now undertake the professional course in Nursing. It is a 5 years course.

Second Option to become a certified Nurse in Nigeria

This second method is more straight forward than the first option. You do not need to take JAMB to gain admission using this method.

  • Successfully complete your secondary school
  • Pass your O’level (WAEC/NECO) well in not more than 2 sittings. The required subjects are Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and other health related subjects.
  • Apply for school of nursing program.
  • Get admission.

This type of nursing program is usually for duration of 3 years, after graduating, you will be able to work as a qualified nurse in any place you desire.

How to register for MTN Y’ello Star music reality TV show 2020| Y’ello Star is a musical platform created by Nigeria’s leading Telecommunications and data services provider, MTN Nigeria to search for, discover, nurture, expose and launch music talents in young Nigerians.

When these talents are discovered, they are assembled in a house where their skills and talents are horned through lectures, guidance, mentoring and practical sessions by renowned teachers, artists who have distinguished themselves in the industry.

MTN will turn it up for the winner of the competition, who will be referred to as The Y’ello Star.

The winner will receive

  • Visit www.mtnonline.com/yellostar
  • Fill the registration form
  • Upload your 1 minute video and wait for the progress bar to turn green
  • Accept the terms and conditions
  • Click the submit button
  • You will get an email notification confirming your registration

2. myMTN App:

  • Visit your Play or App Store
  • Download the myMTN App
  • Click on the Y’ello Star image on the homepage
  • Fill the form registration
  • Upload your 1 minute video and wait for the progress bar to turn green
  • Accept the terms and conditions
  • Click the submit button
  • You will get an email notification confirming your registration

3. Social Media:

  • Upload a minute video of yourself singing on Instagram or Twitter
  • Use the hashtag #MTNYelloStar and tag @mtnng
  • You will receive an automated response from @mtnng
  • Click the confirmation link
  • Fill the form and submit

  • Fill the registration form
  • Upload your 1 minute video and wait for the progress bar to turn green
