The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) was conceived by the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) in collaboration with global development partners to address the major financing challenges facing Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.

Our objective is to alleviate financing constraints faced by MSMEs and small Corporates in Nigeria through the provision of financing and partial credit guarantees to eligible financial intermediaries on a market-conforming and fully financially sustainable basis.

Job Objective and Summary

  • The Technical Assistant (TA) provides confidential administrative and technical support to the Executive Director, Finance & Corporate Services. He/She reports directly to the ED, Finance & Corporate Services.

Core Responsibilities

  • Completes a broad variety of technical and administrative tasks for the ED, Finance & Corporate Services including: managing an extremely active calendar of appointments; composing and preparing correspondence that are often confidential.
  • Prioritizes conflicting needs; handles assignments expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
  • Provides a bridge for smooth communication between the ED and internal departments; demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust and support with senior management staff.
  • Proactively and reactively handle ad-hoc requests for the ED.
  • Produces well researched high quality technical papers/presentations and reviews.
  • Critiques reports and submissions of external parties and other publicly available information.
  • Works closely and effectively with the ED, Finance & Corporate Services to keep him/her well informed of upcoming projects, commitments and responsibilities, follows up appropriately with third parties and ensures smooth running of the ED’s activities.
  • Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming issues/concerns or enquiries addressed to the ED, Finance & Corporate Services; determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response and ensures timely feedback/resolution.

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:

  • A First Degree in Social / Management Sciences or any related discipline.
  • A Post-graduate Degree in a management related field is an added advantage.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Membership of ICAN, ACCA, CFA, CPA or any other related certifications is an added advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years post graduate cognate experience in a similar role.

Competencies

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of macro economy, business, management finance, banking, accounting, corporate finance & investor relations.
  • Expertise in office management and business correspondence.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and management.
  • Good understanding of Development Finance.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer programs, e-mail and internet.

Technical Competencies:

  • Expertise in accounting, management finance and banking.
  • Strong research and report writing skills.
  • Expertise in office management and business correspondence.
  • Negotiation/influencing skills
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
