Job Objective

  • The Branch Manager is responsible for the profitability of the branch’s CMB business and the satisfaction of all customers.

  • The position of Bursar will be vacant with effect from 16th May 2023. Applications are hereby invited from interested and suitably qualified candidates for the position of Bursar.

Duties

  • The Bursar is the Chief Financial Adviser of the University and he is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

Among others, he has the responsibility to:

  • Advising on the general financial policy of the University
  • Preparing annual estimates of income and expenditure
  • Monitoring of income and expenditure in relation to budget and presenting reports to the Vice-Chancellor
  • Keeping the accounts of the University and preparing statements of financial activities and balance sheets
  • Maintaining cash flow projects for the current and future years.
  • Advising on financial investment of the University
  • Administer pension scheme for Teaching and non-teaching staff
  • Scrutinizing and passing for payment all invoices
  • Organizing special appeals for capital project and endowment funds
  • Keeping analysis of cost and other statistical records
  • Advising on taxation methods

Requirements And Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a good honors Degree (not below Second Class Lower Division) in Accounting or related disciplines plus membership of any of the following recognized Professional Accounting bodies namely: ACA, ACCA, ICAN, CA, ACMA and ANAN.
  • The candidate should have at least fifteen (15) years post honors degree experience in a University or comparable institution, five (5) years of which must be as a Deputy Bursar in a public university.
  • Possession of a higher degree in a relevant field and a good working knowledge of appropriate computer packages will be an advantage.
  • Applicants must not be more than sixty (60) years of age at the time of appointment.

Terms of Appointment

  • The appointment is for a period of five (5) years only, effective from the date of appointment.
  • The salary is as applicable in public Universities in Nigeria.

Duties

  • Participate in designing, planning and managing agronomy experiments in the screen house and on-station field for seed yam production using minisetts, mini-tubers, and vine cuttings.
  • Participate in the design, planning and management of demonstration trials on certified seed yam production in collaboration with PROSSIVAYam Partners in Nigeria and Ghana.
  • Provide technical backstopping to certified seed entrepreneurs, ware yam farmers, extension workers and Community Research Technicians on implementing demonstration trials for demand creation.
  • Participate in monitoring the activities of PROSSIVA-associated private seed companies and certified seed entrepreneurs working with IITA PROSSIVA team members.
  • Supervise the activities of daily rated labor on-station.
  • Report monthly on the progress of planned activities.
  • Collect and maintain data on certified seed yam production activities including seed preparation, planting, scoring for diseases and pests, application of agronomic measures, labeling, harvesting, sorting, treating, storage, etc.
  • Perform any other job-related task as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • B.Sc / HND in Crop Science / Soil Science, Seed Science, Botany or any other related field with a minimum of two (2) years of experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment with a valid driver’s license.

Competencies:
The ideal candidate must:

  • Have experience in conducting agricultural research experiments.
  • Be experienced in recording, handling, and processing data from research experiments and report writing.
  • Have the ability to work independently and use of any of SPSS, R, SAS or related statistical tools.
  • Experience of using digital tools for data entry and knowledge of yam agronomy
  • Have experience in working with partners in research and extension, as well as farmers.
  • Have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and some experience of using statistical software.
  • Have good interpersonal relationships, good documentation abilities, organizational skills and strong communication skills.

Eligible undergraduate students studying courses accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Nigerian universities are invited to submit an electronic application.

The merit-based scholarship is open to FULL TIME undergraduates studying in Universities within Nigeria.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Applicants must:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen.
  • Currently be in their second year of full-time study in a Nigerian University accredited by the NUC.
  • Have a minimum CGPA of 3.5 in a 5-grade system or the equivalent in other grade systems; and
  • Not be a beneficiary of any other scholarship from an entity in the oil and gas industry, National or International.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Applicants must:

  • Application MUST be received not later than the specified deadline via the scholarship portal ONLY.
  • Only candidates that meet the eligibility criteria will be invited for the monitored computer-based test.
  • Only the top 10 candidates will be shortlisted from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for academic verification prior to scholarship offer.
  • Candidates with falsified results will be disqualified.
  • Only candidates that have successfully satisfied the above criteria will be contacted to receive the scholarship award.
  • All scholars must maintain a minimum of 3.5 CGPA per session, in a 5-grade system or the equivalent in other grade systems, to sustain the award.
