Nigeria vs South Korea FIFA U20 World Cup Quarter Final – Match Stats & Preview.

The FIFA U20 World Cup has reached the quarterfinal stage, and one of the matches will feature Nigeria against South Korea.

The game will take place on Sunday at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades, and people expect it to be an interesting encounter.

Both teams have shown that they are serious contenders in the competition hosted by Argentina, and they are already aiming for the semifinals.

South Korea advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Ecuador 3-2 in the Round of 16.

The Taegeuk Warriors have fast and skillful players, along with a strong attacking force that allowed them to dominate their South American opponents. This is a level of quality that they did not demonstrate during the group stages.

They finished second in Group F after defeating France 2-1 and drawing against Gambia and Honduras.

On the other hand, Nigeria made it to the quarterfinals after shocking the host country Argentina with a 2-0 victory.

The team, known as the Flying Eagles, secured the win in that game with second-half goals from Ibrahim Muhammad and Haliru Sarki.

They were in Group D, where they finished third. The Eagles earned six points from two wins and one defeat.

They defeated the Dominican Republic 2-1 and Italy 2-0 but suffered a loss against Brazil.

Hwang Tae-hyeon captained the team throughout the competition, where they finished as runners-up in Group F behind Argentina.

They went on to defeat Japan in the Round of 16 and advanced to the quarterfinals, where they emerged victorious in a penalty shootout against Senegal.

In the semi-final, the Asian Tigers secured a 1-0 victory over Ecuador, setting up a final showdown against Ukraine.

This marks South Korea’s 15th appearance in the competition.

As for the Flying Eagles, they have had a mixed record in the quarterfinals of the FIFA U20 World Cup tournament.

In their last six appearances at this stage, they have won three times and lost three times. Despite the varying results, Nigeria has been a consistent presence in this tournament, having participated 12 times and finishing as runners-up on two occasions.

In their first meeting hosted by the Netherlands in 2005, South Korea emerged victorious with a 2-1 win. However, Nigeria went on to finish in second place in that tournament.

Nigeria got their revenge in 2013 when they defeated South Korea 1-0, thanks to a goal by Olanrewaju Kayode.

Overall, Nigeria has an impressive record against Asian opponents, securing five wins, one draw, and suffering only one defeat. The aggregate scoreline stands at 14-3 in favor of Nigeria.
