Requirements And Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship applicant must:

  • Have submitted an application by the deadline for a PhD programme to start in September 2024.
  • Hold (or expect to achieve) a first class or 2.1 UK honours undergraduate degree (or international equivalent).
  • Ideally hold a master’s qualification at merit or distinction (or international equivalent).
  • Be able to demonstrate potential for academic research. This may include undergraduate projects, placements, internships, contributions to publications or articles, promoting research to a wider audience, prizes for previous work or stetting up collaborations with other groups.
  • Be able to demonstrate involvement in broader activities, e.g. outreach, volunteering, community engagement, engagement in EDIA and other extra-curricular activities.

  • Meet English language entry requirements as specified by the Department that you are applying to;

All shortlisted candidates will be invited to be interviewed by the Faculty DDS Panel. Candidates will be notified by email. Interviews for this recruitment cycle will be conducted via Zoom. The Faculty DDS Panel will assess interviewees based on their DDS nomination form, a short verbal presentation and interview questions.

The aim of the Hatfield Lioness Scholarship is to enable a female student from a developing country where access to tertiary education is limited to benefit from undertaking postgraduate study at the Durham University. The scholarship was launched as part of the celebration of 30 years of women students at Hatfield College, Durham University in 2018, and is funded by alumni, friends of the College and other sources supportive of the scholarship’s aims.

Hatfield College aims to award the Lioness Scholarship to an individual who has the academic and personal qualities to enable them to complete and benefit from a postgraduate course, and who will also act as a positive ambassador for their home country in Durham, and put their enhanced knowledge and skills gained from the master’s programme and experience in Durham to good use for the benefit of their society when they return home.

 Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicant must:

  • Applicants must have applied for and been offered an unconditional place on their chosen master’s programme by June 2024
  • Applicants must not be in receipt of any other scholarship to fund their postgraduate studies
  • Applicants must be or identify as a woman
  • Applicants must be a national of one of the listed developing countries
  • Hold a relevant honours degree of sufficient standard to be admitted to your chosen Master’s course; and
  • Have all other course entry requirements including the relevant English language qualification;
  • Not hold a Master’s degree; and
  • Not otherwise have the financial means to study for a Master’s degree in the UK.

SBW Berlin awards scholarships based on professional qualifications, personal suitability, and financial need to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree program at a university or a university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) in Berlin or Potsdam. In principle, all scientific, social, and artistic disciplines can be funded. In special cases, the scholarship may support a vocational training in Berlin or Potsdam.

The SBW Berlin scholarship program supports scholarship recipients during their studies in Berlin or Potsdam but there are also expectations of SBW Berlin associated with it. Our scholarship program focuses on the scholarship recipients’ social commitments and the Development of non-profit/social projects in their respective home country. In cooperation with a Local non-profit organization or social institution, the scholarship recipients work on their own projects, which they present during the application process by submitting a project description. All projects aim to support people in need and the non-profit or social institution’s objectives and have a greater benefit for society, in general.

Requirements And Eligibility

  • Foreign nationals, whose home countries appear to have a particular need for development Assistance
  • Holders of a student visa for Germany or a residence permit with the purpose of taking up or carrying out a course of study in Germany

Benefits of the Scholarship

For the duration of the scholarship (max. funding period is equivalent to the regular period of the Study program), SBW Berlin covers necessary living expenses of the scholarship recipients. The Scholarship includes:

  • a furnished room in shared student flats in Berlin
  • cost-of-living allowance currently in the amount of 480 Euro per month
  • tuition fees
  • possibly also a travel contribution for the journey to Berlin before the start of the course of Study and for the journey home after successful completion of the course

Selection Process

In addition to a proven collaboration between the applicant and a non-profit/social organization Based in the applicant’s home country, the following criteria are decisive for the selection of incoming scholarship recipients:

  • In need of assistance are all applicants who meet the requirements of § 1 BAföG (German Federal Education Assistance Act). The individual amount of funding will depend on the personal Circumstances of each applicant.
  • In need of assistance are also applicants whose total household income does not exceed the Average income which has been officially stated for their home country. The income of all Household members and all sources of income of the family and/or the applicant (e.g., from Employment, business activities, property, child benefit or pensions) will be considered.
  • Eligible are all applicants whose intellectual abilities, as substantiated by the application documents and during the interview, justify the expectation that the applicant will easily meet the Performance requirements of the funded studies and degree.
  • Worthy of assistance are all applicants whose personality and social commitment suggest that they will achieve the goals of this scholarship during and after their studies in cooperation with a Non-profit organization or social institution in the home country of the scholarship recipient.
  • In addition, the applicant’s non-profit/social project will be evaluated.

The granting of any additional, financial resources to implement the project will be decided case-by-case

DARMASISWA is a scholarship program offered to all foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia to study Bahasa, art and culture. Participants can choose one of selected universities located in different cities in Indonesia. This program is organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).

The DARMASISWA program was started in 1974 as part of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) initiative, admitting only students from ASEAN. However, in 1976 this program was extended to include students from other countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and USA. In early 90’s, this program was extended further to include all countries which have diplomatic relationship with Indonesia. Until date, the number of countries participating in this program is more than 135 countries.

The main purpose of the DARMASISWA program is to promote and increase the interest in the language and culture of Indonesia among the youth of other countries. It has also been designed to provide stronger cultural links and understanding among participating countries. A key consideration of this role will involve managing the customer journey through our website and integrating relevant call to action (CTA) points with our customer relationship management (CRM) system to deliver a seamless experience.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with and supporting the Head of Digital to ensure our digital channels and systems ultimately support the delivery of the marketing strategy.
  • Lead on the management of the workflow of all projects for the Digital & Web team, ensuring all projects are delivered on time, budget and brand and allocating team resource as required.
  • Provide leadership of a small team, driving forward for high performance and excellence in delivery.
  • Maintain and develop digital systems that support our web functionality and content development projects to include progressing our ambitions for greater levels of personalisation, as well as overseeing SEO improvements.
  • Lead on the development of business cases for new or enhanced systems and technology solutions to support our digital delivery, making recommendations to the Head of Digital on best practice and innovations that the University should adopt.
  • Implement and use quality-control methods in order to approve content across digital systems and channels taking an iterative design thinking approach.
  • Provide guidance to the team and colleagues to ensure we optimise website content for search engines and use analytics to support changes to information architecture (IA) and the user interface (UI) that will ultimately benefit UX.

  • Ensure content adheres to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and data protection requirements and promote best practice in the context of both across the wider organization.
  • Work with our Web Developers to optimize the website and identify opportunities to personalize the user experience.
  • Maximize opportunities to capture and integrate quality data from our digital channels within CRM.
  • Proactively promote, across the university, the use of CRM technologies to support marketing activity.
  • Take the lead on identifying and working with content producers across the organization to disseminate best practice, coordinate content activity and share ideas.
  • Deliver continuous improvement methodology to ensure content is planned, checked and reviewed regularly, implementing tracking and monitoring metrics to ensure delivery on time and to quality.
  • Have up-to-date knowledge of digital marketing trends and techniques, ensuring that this is built into ways of working and disseminated across the department as required.
  • Provide regular reports for senior management on projects, workflow, operations and finance.
  • Contribute to campaign development through keeping up-to-date with industry trends.
  • Work closely with colleagues in Finance to ensure budgets – both income and expenditure – are managed effectively.
  • Provide expert input to the key projects in liaison with Design and Digital colleagues – developing and implementing delivery plans and time frames.

  • Qualification: You have obtained, or are in the process of obtaining, a qualification belonging to a non-Italian education system, valid for access to your chosen programme. Students with Italian high school qualifications obtained in Italian schools abroad may also apply;
  • Merit: you will have taken one of the following international tests by the deadline for application:
    • if you want to enroll in first- or single-cycle degree programmes, the SAT test
    • if you want to enroll in second-cycle degree programmes, the GRE test
    • SAT and GRE are aptitude and skills assessment tests that can be taken in affiliated centres in various countries around the world or online (if offered by the organization in charge). You must register for the tests through the websites of the organisations in charge. SAT and GRE tests are in English.
    • Financial status: you have an ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) of between €16.000 and €35.000 or equivalent financial status. If you cannot submit an ISEE certificate because your family has income outside Italy.
    • Age:  You must not be older than 30 years on the closing date of the call for applications.

Scholarships are worth €4,500 gross and include full exemption of tuition fees.

•    The internship will be authorized only once for three (3) month renewable one time for any candidate
•    Interns are not entitled to medical travel or medical evacuation to and from the internship location at the expenses of the Commission. Interns shall therefore have an individual insurance coverage throughout the duration of the internship.
