Job Description

Requirements For The Internship Program

To compete for the FIP, at a minimum you must meet the following criteria:

Ph.D. students

  • Within one to two years of completing a Ph.D. in macroeconomics or a related field.
  • Be in student status at the time of the internship (i.e. continuing Ph.D. studies after the internship).
  • Be below the age of 32 at the commencement of the internship.

Is this a paid Internship?

Yes, this internship is paid.

What kind of visa would I need, and would the IMF facilitate this?

If you are not a citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. and do not have another work authorization that would allow you to work at the IMF, you will need a G4 visa. We will provide the paperwork necessary to facilitate your G4 visa request with U.S. authorities.

What are the minimum and maximum durations of the Internship?

The minimum duration is 10 weeks and the maximum duration is 12 weeks.

Will someone notify me when my internship application is received by your office?

You will receive a system-automated acknowledgment of your application. Only candidates who are short-listed for further consideration will be contacted by a FIP recruiter.

If I am selected for an internship, when would I start?

Internships may commence on either one of the two assigned dates — June 5 and June 26, 2023. Which start date will apply to you will be confirmed at the time of the offer.

Nigerian Air Force DSSC Recruitment 2022/2023 – Apply Here. The Nigeria Air Force is now inviting applications from suitably qualified persons for enlistment into the DSSC for 2022/2023. See the requirements and how to apply below.

The Nigerian Air Force is the air branch of the Nigerian Armed Forces. It is one of the largest in Africa, consisting of about 15,000 personnel and aircraft including 8 Chinese Chengdu F-7s, 13 Dassault-Dornier Alpha Jets, Helicopter gunships, armed attack drones, and military transport aircraft.

The Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) is a type of commission in the NAF which is open to both civilians and serving military personnel. The Course provides the avenue for the enlistment of degree holders who are professionals in specified fields. The training period for this type of commission is usually 6 months of intensive military training and successful candidates are commissioned into the rank of Flying Officer.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) invites applications from qualified candidates for training as Direct Short Service Cadets in the capacities below:

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLICANTS

1. Nationality: Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth, and possess a national identity card/NIN or BVN.

2. Age: Applicants must be between the ages of 20 and 30 years by 14 October 2023 (25 – 40 years for Medical Consultants).  Please note the following: 

a.        Candidates born before 13 October 1993 are not eligible, while candidates born before 13 October 1983 are not eligible for medical consultants. 

b.        The Exercise is not for serving personnel desiring Branch Commission. Therefore, personnel above 30 years of age (born before 13 October 1993) are not to apply. 

3. Marital Status: All applicants must be single.

4. Height: Minimum height is 1.66 meters for males and 1.63 meters for females.

5. Medical Fitness: Applicants must be medically fit and meet the Nigerian Air Force medical and employment standards.

6. Local Government Area Attestation Form: Applicants’ Local Government Area Attestation Form must be signed by a military officer from the same State as the applicants, not below the rank of Wing Commander in the Nigerian Air Force or equivalent in the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy or a Police Officer of the rank of Assistant Commissioner and above, or Local Government Area Chairmen/Secretaries and Magistrates from the Local Government Area of the applicants, Registrar, DVC, Provost of applicant Institute. The Local Government Area Attestation Form must be accompanied by the passport photograph and photocopy of the signees’ Drivers Licence or National ID Card or International Passport. The signee is also to authenticate behind the applicant’s passport photograph.

7.        Letter of Attestation of Good Character. A separate Letter of Attestation of Good Character is required of every candidate. The letter could be attested and authenticated by the same signee in Paragraph 6 above or any eligible personality from a different state but of equal status of the aforementioned. Candidates are to print out the Letter of Attestation of Good Character form and forward same for the signee to fill and signed accordingly with his/her official stamp and other means of identification documents such as Drivers’ License, International Passport, National Identity Card and Voters Card.

8. Presentation of original credentials: Successful applicants are required to submit their original credentials for scrutiny at the Selection Board Interview Exercise. The credentials include the following:

a. Eight recent passport-size photographs to be stamped and countersigned by the officer of appropriate rank as specified in Paragraph 6.

b. Original and Photocopy of Birth Certificate or Declaration of Age.

c. Original and Photocopy of Educational/Professional Certificates.

d. Original and Photocopy of Indigeneship Certificate from applicant’s Local Government/State of Origin.

e. Original and Photocopy of Attestation of Good Character signed by Officer of appropriate rank as specified in Paragraph 6.

9. Any applicant suspected to have impersonated or submitted false document(s) shall be disqualified from the Selection Exercise. Also, any false declaration detected later may lead to withdrawal from training. Such applicants will be handed over to the Nigeria Police for prosecution. The Nigerian Air Force will not entertain any inquiries in respect of applicants whose applications have been rejected. Interested applicants are to note that the online registration is FREE OF CHARGE. Applicants are required to fill in valid email addresses and telephone numbers in the appropriate spaces provided in the Application Form.

10. Completed Application Forms: On completion of the application forms, applicants must print out the under listed documents:

a. Acknowledgment Slip.

b. Attestation of Parent/Guardians Form.

c. Local Government Area Attestation Form.

d.     Letter of Attestation of Good Character Form.

11.      Invitation for Interview.    Successful applicants would be invited for a Screening Exercise through the NAF Recruitment Portal, www.nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng. In addition to this, email and phone numbers could be used as deemed necessary.

ACADEMIC/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS FOR NIGERIAN AIRFORCE RECRUITMENT

12.      Interested applicants must possess a minimum of Second Class Upper Division for holders of the first degree and Upper Credit for HND holders. In addition, applicants must possess credit in English Language and Mathematics and degree courses of study. Computer literacy will be an added advantage.

13.      Applicants must possess an NYSC Discharge Certificate or Letter of Exemption from NYSC at the time of applying for DSSC.

14.      Applicants must possess certificates of full registration with their respective statutory professional bodies in Nigeria where applicable.
