  • Maintain good housekeeping practices to ensure that the work environment is hazard free, safe and pleasant.
  • Perform such other duties reasonably requested by the Engineer.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As Chief Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the secure and efficient functioning of all machinery on board. Key responsibilities include:

– Ensuring adherence to Safety and Company Procedures in all tasks.
– Implementing anti-pollution precautions during hydrocarbon transfers or loading.
– Accurately maintaining the Oil Record Book (Part I and/or II, depending on ship design).
– Collaborating with the Technical Manager at head office for planned maintenance, spare parts inventory, and Dry Dock job list preparation, as per company regulations.
– Utilizing Task Assistant software program to meticulously plan and update maintenance tasks.
– Providing monthly condition reports on essential equipment.
– Managing samples analysis.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

To be eligible for this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and experience:

– Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (capacity dependent on vessel tonnage).
– Proficiency in operating Main Engines MAK 9M25 2970 KW x 2, Auxiliary engines Cummins QSM11-DM 250 KW X 2, and Main propulsion Schottel SRP3030.
– Proven and verifiable experience as a Chief Engineer or 2nd Engineer on a Supply Vessel.
– Possession of all required STCW Certificates and Mandatories.
– Experience with Tug Rastar 3800 design and machinery specifications.

MTNF/MUSON Scholarship for Aspiring Musicians 2023 – The Musical Society of Nigeria (MUSON), in conjunction with the MTN Foundation (MTNF), announces the entrance examinations for the Seventeenth (17th) set of the MTN/MUSON Diploma Course in music for the 2023/2024 academic year.

MTNF/MUSON Scholarship for Aspiring Musicians 2023

The MUSON Diploma School of Music is staffed and equipped to meet international standards in music education. The Entrance Examinations will take place from September 5th – September 8th, 2023 and will take the form of:

A written Examination in Music Theory at appropriately Grade 5 standard and general music knowledge:

Date: 5th September, 2023

Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm

An audition on a major instrument or voice of at least Grade 5 standard before a Faculty Jury:

Date: 6th September, 2023

Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm

Admission Requirements

Applicants for the MTNF/MUSON diploma course in Music are expected to possess the following minimum requirements:

  • The General Certificate of Education (G.C.E) Ordinary Level with credits in five (5) subjects including English Language, or
  • The Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) with a credit in English Language
  • The 5 credits must have been obtained at not more than two sittings and before admission to the diploma course.

Other Requirements

PRACTICAL: Grade five (5) or higher pass certificate of The MUSON School of Music or any other music examining body recognized by the MUSON School.

THEORY: Grade five (5) or higher pass certificate of the MUSON School of Music or any other music examining body recognized by the MUSON School.

NB: Applicants who possess the above practical or theory certificates would have also satisfied the GCE (O/L) or SSCE requirements.

Applicants who are deficient in the theory requirements but show outstanding practical ability may be admitted. These students must take a remedial theory course and must pass the minimum requirements in the first year

The diploma course is a full time 2 year course offering advanced training in music with the following majors: Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Classical Guitar, Voice.

Students are also required to take 2 terms of an instrument minor other than their major instrumental family. All voice students must pass grade 2 piano, instrumentalists must pass vocal techniques and all students must belong to the choir. Orchestra is required for all string majors. All wind and percussion majors must belong to band. Others who may not be majors are welcome to audition for the orchestra band.

The Federal Civil Service Commission has released the schedule for the 2023 promotional examinations for federal civil servants. Check out the details below to prepare for the exams.

The Federal Civil Service Commission has officially announced the dates for the 2023 promotional examinations for federal civil servants. According to a memo dated July 28, 2023, and signed by Chairman Tukur Ingawa, the examinations are set to commence on August 14.

Date for FCSC Promotional Exam

The schedule for the examinations is as follows:

1. Grade Levels 14-15: Examinations will take place on August 14 and 15.

2. Grade Levels 15-16: Examinations will be held on August 16 and 17.

3. Grade Levels 16-17: The examinations are scheduled for August 18.

All accredited candidates are required to take note of the date scheduled for their respective Cadre and Salary Grade Level. The examinations will begin at 7 am prompt, so candidates are advised to arrive at the designated venue on time.

The memo, which was addressed to high-ranking officials, including the Chief of Staff to the President, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, and the Accountant-General of the Federation, emphasizes the importance of compliance.

NOTE- All concerned candidates are urged to be well-prepared for the upcoming promotional examinations. Permanent Secretaries, Accounting Officers, and Chief Executive Officers of MDAs are also requested to ensure that the information in this circular reaches all relevant individuals for seamless coordination.
