The Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh will provide 3 years of part-time online Master’s scholarships & 2-year part-time postgraduate Diploma scholarships to students living or working in Africa with great academic and leadership potential but few educational opportunities.

Applicants can apply for either:

Online Masters (part-time over 3 years): Masters programs are normally aimed at those who have completed an undergraduate degree and want to develop more specialized knowledge in the same subject or similar career area.

Online Postgraduate Diploma (part-time over 2 years): Postgraduate diplomas are aimed at those who are considering a potential change in career and tend to be more vocational. Candidates with either an undergraduate or Master’s degree from a Sub-Saharan African university are equally able to apply (provided they will graduate from either degree before December 2022).

Benefits of Mastercard Foundation Online Masters

  • The MCF scholarship will cover the full tuition fees, a small study stipend to allow for access to high-quality internet, a laptop and the opportunity to attend an in-person summer school in Africa.
  • The scholarship is designed to cover three years of part-time online study. On top of financial support, Scholars will participate in activities as part of the wider Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh, including regular online workshops, online coaching, and support.
  • Applicants who already have a postgraduate qualification are not able to apply for this scholarship.

Requirements for Mastercard Foundation Online Masters

Below are the requirements for the Scholarship program

  • Applicants must qualify academically for admission to the University of Edinburgh for a relevant degree program listed above. You will generally need to have achieved the equivalent of a UK Second Class (Upper) Bachelor’s (Hons) degree or higher.
  • Applicants must have graduated from the undergraduate study before December 2022 and must be in possession of a degree certificate and official, final transcript to upload alongside their application
  • Applicants must be residents and citizens of a Sub-Saharan African country
  • Applicants must be without the financial means to study oversees independently
  • We particularly welcome applications from female scholars, scholars from refugee and displaced backgrounds, and scholars with disabilities (see FAQs below for further information)
  • Applicants must demonstrate a track record of leadership and service within their community
  • If applying for the Masters’s program: Applicants should not have previously completed a postgraduate degree and should not be enrolled (or apply to enroll) at a separate university whilst on the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship
  • If applying for the PG diploma: Applicants can either have an undergraduate or Master’s degree from a Sub-Saharan African university (provided they will graduate from either degree before December 2022). If you have a Master’s degree, our admissions team will review your first degree (undergraduate) to meet the postgraduate diploma entry requirement. The MCF team will review your Master’s degree transcripts to confirm the graduation date and location of your University.
  • Applicants must be 35 or under on the 1 September 2023

St Antony’s College, University of Oxford, in partnership with the international integrated energy company Eni, is offering up to three students from Angola, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, or the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) the opportunity to study for a fully funded degree in 2023/24.

These scholarships will allow St Antony’s to admit up to three of the best African students irrespective of means and will add immeasurably to the diverse and intellectual character of the College. This is part of a joint initiative between Eni & St Antony’s College to invest in and strengthen African leadership.

St Antony’s and Eni are equally keen to provide encouragement and where possible, structured incentives for Eni Scholars to continue their studies or find useful employment back in their home country after graduating from Oxford. Discussions about this are ongoing and scholars will be informed of relevant contacts and partnerships as they emerge.

Eligibility/Requirements For Eni Scholarship

The scholarships are open to applicants who are ordinarily resident in Angola, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, and the Republic of the Congo (Congo-Brazzaville). Preference will be given to applicants whose first degree is from an African university.

The scholarships will be awarded on the basis of both academic merit and potential and financial need. Preference will be given to applicants who have clear ambitions to use their accumulated learning to benefit their home country after graduation.

Apply online to the University of Oxford for one of the eligible courses as listed above. You must submit your application for graduate study to the University by the appropriate January course deadline  (check the University’s guidance on application deadlines) and you must have secured a place in your chosen program of study by the final date for applications (1st March 2023). It would help if you select St Antony’s College in the college choice section of the application form, though this is not compulsory.
  3. Once you have applied to the University, please complete the online Eni Scholarship application form which is available at the bottom of this page The deadline for submission of the form is 5 pm, UK time, on 1st March 2023.

The Honourable Minister of Education (HME), Mallam Adamu Adamu, hereby invites interested and qualified Nigerians to participate in the 2023/2024 Federal Government Scholarship Awards for:

BILATERAL EDUCATION AGREEMENT (BEA)

i) Undergraduate (UG) studies tenable in Russia, Morocco, Hungary, Egypt and Venezuela;

ii) Postgraduate (PG) studies tenable in Russia (for those whose first degrees were obtained from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, and Romania.

3.0 FIELDS OF STUDY

b.  Postgraduate level (Masters’s Degree and Ph.D.) in all fields.

4.0 CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

A. UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Seven (7) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificates, WASSCE/WAEC (May/June) only in the subjects relevant to their fields of study including English Language and Mathematics. Certificates should not be more than two (2) years old (2021 & 2022) for Non-African Countries and for African countries the age of the certificate is one year (2022) only. The age limit is from 17 to 20 years.

B. POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS: All applicants for Postgraduate degree courses must hold a  First  Degree with 1st Class or at least 2nd  Class Upper Division.

All applicants must have completed N.Y.S.C. Programme and the age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D.

i)  N.Y.S.C discharge or exemption certificates only are  accepted; and

ii)  Evidence of readiness to be released by an employer.

GENERAL NOTE FOR ALL APPLICANTS:

i)     Since the BEA countries are non-English speaking, applicants should be prepared to undertake a mandatory one-year foreign Language course of the Country of choice which will be the standard medium of instruction;

iii)    All applicants for Hungarian Scholarship can apply for up to two fields of study in order of preference and must visit the website:  www.stipendiumhungaricum.hu which was opened Middle of November to close on 16th January 2023.

vi)  All applicants for Russia should visit the website https://education-in-russia.com/ which will open in November.

v)   All applicants for the Russian Postgraduate Scholarship must have acquired their 1st   Degree in Russia;

vi)  All Applicants are to upload the following certificates online;

Benefits of RSM Undergraduate Scholarship

  • The scholarship is in the form of a tuition fee waiver. And covers the difference between the non-EEA tuition fee and the EEA tuition fee;
  • No actual transmission of money takes place. The scholarship part will be subtracted from the full non-EEA tuition fee (€ 9,600) before the start of the academic year, enabling you to immediately pay the reduced tuition fee; either at once or in instalments.
  • The scholarship will be awarded for the first year of the IBA programme only.

Requirements for RSM Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

The scholarship award will be for the first year of the IBA program. But excellence in previous education must be shown. As the scholarship award will be only for the first year, students should be aware that they Should have sufficient means to cover the study costs of the second and third years.

Selection Criteria: 

  • Excellence in previous education is proven if the grade point average achieved at secondary school (measured to date) is at least the equivalent of the Dutch grade of 8.0 on the Dutch grading scale 1 – 10.
  • For prospective students who has gone through higher education after secondary education grades obtained in higher education will also receive consideration. The RSM Scholarship Committee will decide on the local grade equivalents for the Dutch grade of 8.0 using (a.o.) the grade information included in the Nuffic country modules;
  • Only students who are not recipients of any other scholarships exceeding the amount of € 5,000 in total in that same academic year can apply for the scholarship;
  • By accepting this scholarship you agree to assist the RSM Recruitment and Admissions Office in the role of an Ambassador. With promotional and support activities for approximately 8 hours per month during the academic year;
  • By accepting this scholarship you agree to start your visa procedure before 1 June 2021. RSM holds the right to cancel your scholarship if you have not started your visa procedure. And holds the right to offer the scholarship to a student on the scholarship waiting list.

Documents Required for Application

  • A scholarship application letter in OLAF of a maximum 1 A4 size page, including the following information: an explanation why you would need a scholarship, comprising a description of your current financial situation; an explanation why you would deserve a scholarship, comprising a description of academic excellence and if applicable other merits;
  • A budget plan using this template, explaining how you are going to finance year 1, 2 and 3 of the IBA program
  • If applicable: certified copies of other scholarships granted

Requirements for Flinders University Rural Residential Scholarships Qualification

Applicants must be:

  • Enrolled at St Ann’s and ready to commence, or continue with, an undergraduate degree studying science, engineering, mathematics, or technology subjects at one of the three South Australian public universities
  • An Australian citizen or a holder of a permanent resident visa whose family base is in rural South Australia
  • Intending to spend a significant part of their career in South Australia, or be likely to provide a benefit to the State
  • A high achiever, with an excellent secondary school or university academic record. Allowance can be made for practical and other disadvantages due to remoteness from Adelaide
  • Of good character. Preference will be given to students who identify as indigenous and to students who display leadership potential.

  • The scholarship award will be on academic merit with due regard for financial need, character and community contribution.
  • The Playford Trust will consider nominations from students enrolled at, and recommended by St Ann’s.

Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Programme supports aspirational public health leaders from Africa in acquiring advanced skills. And competencies to strategize, manage and lead public health programs that will transform public health in Africa

The African Union Commission launched the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) – Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Programme on 25 May 2020 in partnership with the Kofi Annan Foundation, following its approval by the Governing Board of Africa CDC in March 2018.

The first cohort of the Fellowship program was launched on 7th April 2021. And consisted of a total of 20 fellows from 14 countries. IN 2022 the Fellowship boarded 20 ADDITIONAL fellows from 17 countries for the second cohort SELECTED from more than 3000 applications. The fellowship program is now open and accepting applications for the Third cohort, with a deadline for applications by 15th January 2023. And the fellowship is scheduled to commence in May 2023.

The African Union (AU) is a continental body consisting of the 55 member states that make up the countries of the African Continent.

Aim:

  • The aim is to support aspirational Public Health Leaders (Fellows) from Africa in acquiring advanced skills and competencies to strategize, manage and lead public health programs that will transform public health in Africa.

Requirements for African Union/Africa Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Program Qualification

  • Be citizens of an African Union Member State;
  • Possess a postgraduate degree in a relevant field in public health;
  • Have relevant professional experience in any field of public health, including but not limited to one health, medicine, finance, health economics, health policy, animal health, or environmental health;
  • Be in full-time employment in any area of public health, in a private or public institution in Africa;
  • Have a good track record or be able to demonstrate the potential for effective public health leadership where they can positively impact the public health outcomes of populations.

Interview date, Process, and Venue for African Union/Africa Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Program

Timeline:

  • Successful applicants will receive information by 31st March 2023.
  • The fellowship will start on 1st May 2023.

Documents Required for Application

  • A support letter from the current employer to confirm employment, guaranteeing that the candidate will be allowed enough time to participate in the Fellowship program. and to attend the full eight weeks of institutional residential experience.
  • Letters of recommendation from two reputable professional referees.
  • A personal statement (maximum 400 words) providing evidence of the candidate’s commitment to public health in Africa detailing the following:
    • Their leadership experience and professional attainment
    • Their vision of, and the future impact of effective public health leadership in Africa
    • How they would champion public health initiatives in Africa
  • A leadership challenge project proposal (maximum 400 words) that outlines a potential leadership challenge project they will implement. The proposal should contain a title, brief description of the challenge (the what, the who is affected, and the why), a proposed strategy for a solution. And the expected outcome.
