Your Role

  • The Program Officer (PO), Primary Health Care (PHC), will manage a complex portfolio of grants and provide technical assistance at federal level and in selected states to improve health outcomes in Nigeria.
  • This will be done specifically through supporting interventions to accelerate the implementation of the foundation’s health strategy to support the Government of Nigeria and its partners to design and implement high impact interventions to improve PHC outcomes.
  • The PO will work closely with government, private sector, and civil society partners to catalyze these efforts. The focus of the foundation’s work will involve development, testing and scale-up of high impact and cost-effective solutions in selected areas to get results and influence scale across Nigeria and potentially other similar contexts within the region and Africa.
  • This role will report to the Deputy Director, Health, Nutrition, and Eradication in the Nigeria country office (NCO).

What You’ll Do

  • Support the implementation of the NCO health strategy for Nigeria under the leadership of the Deputy Director, and in partnership with other Nigeria Country Office (NCO) health staff, Seattle-based Program Strategy Teams (PSTs) and the Global Policy and Advocacy (GPA) team. This strategy will explore support for levels of policy, planning, institutional strengthening, and sustainable financing using public and private sector perspectives.
  • Identify, negotiate, implement and monitor performance-based contracts/grants to operationalize the foundations health strategy in Nigeria. This will entail playing a role in increasing foundation’s engagement in the implementation of National and State Primary Health Care Development Agencies as well as engagement with other partners working on PHC issues in Nigeria.
  • In partnership with State Leads collaborate with development partners, and the Foundation to drive implementation of the National and sub-national PHC Strategies to strengthen the PHC systems.
  • Serve as a member of the Nigeria Country Office health team, acting as a technical resource on Nigeria PHC issues and liaise with the foundation PHC PST.
  • Represent the foundation in working groups on health financing at state and federal levels – this would include delving into issues from the policy level to state level implementation engagements (in agreement with the DD health).

Job Requirements
Your Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health or Master of Science (M.Sc) in related Health fields, Epidemiology and Human Resources for Health.
  • PhD in Public Health is desirable.
  • Significant experience in strategy planning, organizational development, change facilitation and process management in the health sector.
  • Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared/joint objectives, both internally and externally. Ability to orchestrate effective decisions across a broad range of issues and partners, assess progress, analyse gaps, and make necessary changes.
  • Ability to think/act like an investor and a creative and generative solver. Manage complexity and ambiguity effectively.
  • Developing and delivering communications that convey complex situations in a clear and concise manner with a broad and diverse audience.
  • Demonstrable experience with effective interactions between country level and headquarter offices.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a low-income country context, or equivalent experience, in working with ministries of health and finance, donors and implementing agencies in shaping the health care financing agenda is preferred.
  • Established track record of carrying out analytical/diagnostic work and preparing high-quality technical reports, policy briefing materials, and presentations to influence health financing policy decision making and implementation at national and subnational levels.
  • Experience in the use of diagnostics and other decision tools to improve quality, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of care. Track record of building strong relationships with implementing partners, donors, and officials at all levels of government.
  • Understanding of the Nigerian health system and of federal and state health policy, with on-the-ground experience in northern Nigeria in particular.
  • Experience with large-scale health systems strengthening interventions – including multiple approaches to strengthening that range from interventions and sectoral-specifics.

  • Comfortable in a wide range of cultural, geographic, and operational situations, demonstrating culturally sensitive behavior with a diverse range of people.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally.

As stated above the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has released the final lists of successful candidates for the 2023 recruitment exercise for Narcotic Officer and Narcotic Assistant cadres.

Venue for NDLEA 2023 Recruitment Training

The underlisted successful candidates are therefore to report for Narcotic Officers Basic (Cadet) training at the NDLEA Academy, Kotton Rikus, Jos Plateau State, while the Narcotic Agent/Assistant (Trainees) will report for their training at the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) College of Peace and Disaster Management, KM 4 Babbar-Ruga Batsari Road, Katsina State.

DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme – The annual DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme (DBNETP) is the flagship programme of the Development Bank of Nigeria and is currently in its 5th Cycle. Capacity building is a core mandate of the Development Bank of Nigeria, and so far, the Bank has trained over 2000 MSMEs across Nigeria digitally and physically, leveraging partnerships and the DBN Learning Management System (LMS).

DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme 2023 – Apply Now

The annual DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme aims to achieve the following objectives:

Objectives

  1. Ensure MSMEs are well equipped with skills and competencies to defend sound and viable business proposals.
  2. Improve the Capacity of MSMEs to access available credit.
  3. Improve the capacity of MSMEs for efficient funds utilization, trade, investments and access to markets.
Target Audience:
This is open to all Nigerian MSMEs across any sector, who are interested in acquiring the right knowledge needed to succeed in doing business in Nigeria.

Training Format:
The programme takes a blended learning format approach of virtual and physical training.

  • Virtual Training: The Virtual training is a self-paced comprehensive curriculum of the basic business principles broken down into 9 modules and will be implemented using the DBN learning management platform of the BizAid App.
  • Onsite Training : This is a 5-day intense practical training and the curriculum is based on a needs assessment of the shortlisted businesses. A total of 350 businesses will be shortlisted for this to be trained in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt.
  • Pitching Session: All businesses will be eligible to pitch their business value proposition and 25 businesses will be selected to receive grant funding of N500,000 each.

All applicants shortlisted for the onsite training must meet the below minimum eligibility criteria:

  • Owner of business must be 18 years and above.
  • Business owner must be a citizen or legal resident of Nigeria.
  • The business must be based in Nigeria.
  • The business must be for profit from any sector.
  • Applicant must be available to commit to the training schedule once accepted.

How to Apply for DBN Entrepreneurship Training Programme

Training Programme Process Flow:
1. All applicants must register on the DBN BizAid application.

2. All applicants must complete a minimum of 4 mandatory courses on the BizAid Learning management platform and obtain an average score of 70% from all quizzes. The courses that must be completed are:

  • Accounting & Bookkeeping,
  • Sustainability for MSMEs,
  • Marketing and Sales Techniques,
  • Credit Management/Access to Finance.

3. All businesses who have completed the 4 courses by the stipulated deadline will receive an email with a link to apply for the face-to-face training.

4. Upon submission of the application form, an email confirming receipt will be sent to the applicant within a 24-hour period.

5. Applicants will be screened and shortlisted from the close of the application based on the eligibility criteria.

6. Selection will be carried out using the defined selection criteria from the pool of shortlisted applications

The Portal provides an information pool that will assist Entrepreneurs make informed decisions in getting loans and credits from financial institutions within their locations.

What is SMEDAN Credit Information Portal (CIP)

The credit information portal is a repository of information on the different providers of finance and terms and conditions for accessing finance.

There are majorly four types of loans you can access on this website; they are Personal, Business, Mortgage and Credit.

There are majorly four types of loans you can access on the SMEDAN CIP website; they are:

  1. Personal
  2. Business
  3. Mortgage and
  4. Credit

SMEDAN Loan Application Process Stage

Whichever one you choose, will take you through a four stage process before you can access the information. The first stage is by clicking on any of the loans of your choice (Personal, Business, Mortgage and Credit) which takes you to the second stage where you have to fill in a quick form to search for the required loan selected from stage one, The third stage shows you a list of loans that matches your search criteria and the final stage is to view the contact information of your required loan.

Important Information and Requirement

SMEDAN advised each business owner to request this category of information from each financial institution as requirements may vary. However, the common documents requested are the certificate of incorporation of your business, audited financial statements and bank account statements.
