Requirements for Digital Jewels Africa Cares Scholarship

To be eligible for the Dj Cares scholarship award selection, candidates must ensure they meet all criteria’s as stated below

  • IT related course of study. Specifically, Computer Science (single or combined degree), Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • GPA of at least 3.75/5 each semester since university enrollment.
  • Must not be more than 23 years by Oct. of the application year
  • Must have spent at least 2yrs in university
  • Must have English language proficiency (oral & written).
  • Must produce two (2) credible references, 1 of which must be a reference from your current institution e.g H.O.D, Dean e.t.c

Documents Required for Application

Students who meet eligibility criteria would write and submit an essay not more than 500 words on one of the three topics below.

  • Balancing innovation and security: The Ethical Dilemma of AI-Enabled Deepfakes in information technology and what it means for information security.
  • Tech Literacy and Its Importance in the 21st Century: Analyze the importance of tech literacy in today’s world and how it impacts personal growth and opportunities.

The Allan Gray Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship (AGCAE) resides in the School of Public Leadership (SPL), within the faculty of Economic and Management Sciences. The AGCAE creates, integrates and diffuses knowledge to improve data-and-dialogue driven entrepreneurial ecosystem development in Africa in order to increase well-being of communities with entrepreneurship.

Requirements for Stellenbosch University Postgraduate Scholarship Qualification

  • A candidate must meet the minimum criteria for admission to a PhD programme at Stellenbosch University. This requires a master’s degree in a relevant discipline for PhD applications.
  • A candidate must meet the minimum criteria for admission to a Master’s programme at Stellenbosch University. This requires an honours degree in a relevant discipline for Master’s applications.

In addition to the completed application form, the following supporting documents are required:

  • Academic records: Full particulars of ALL previous and current tertiary studies. Please submit copies of certified diploma/degree certificates AND official study records (transcripts). Please note that academic records from student portals will not be acceptable.
  • ID or passport: A certified copy of your ID (South African) or passport (international) photo page
  • Proof of competency in English: Applicants either need to provide proof that they have obtained their qualifications from tertiary institutions where English is the language of instruction, or proof of English Language proficiency. This evidence must accompany your application and must not be older than 24 months from the date of application.

  • The organisers encourage applications to Knight-Hennessy Scholars from citizens of all countries. That’s natural since we expect Knight-Hennessy Scholars to have global impact.
  • Did you earn a degree at an institution outside the U.S.? To be eligible for graduate study, you must hold the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from a college or university of recognized standing.
  • You are eligible to apply to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars program if you are applying to enroll in any full-time graduate degree program at Stanford (for example, but not limited to, DFA, Eng, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MS, or PhD) or if you plan on pursuing one of Stanford’s many joint- and dual- graduate degree options (for example, but not limited to, MD+PhD, JD+MA, MBA+MS).

NSERC Canada Graduate Scholarships

The CGS M program provides financial support to high-calibre scholars who are engaged in an eligible master’s or, in some cases, doctoral program in Canada (refer to Eligibility for more information). This support allows these scholars to fully concentrate on their studies in their chosen fields.

The CGS M program supports up to 3,000 students annually in all disciplines and is administered jointly by Canada’s three granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The selection process and post-award administration are carried out at the institutional level, under the guidance of the three agencies. Requirements for Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s Program Qualification

To be eligible to apply, you must

  • Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or a Protected Person under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) as of the application deadline date
  • Be enrolled in, have applied for or will apply for full-time admission to an eligible graduate program at the master’s or doctoral level at a Canadian institution with a CGS M allocation
  • Respect the internal deadline to apply for admission for your intended program of study—contact the faculty of graduate studies (or its equivalent) at the selected Canadian institution(s) for more detailed information
  • Have completed, as of December 31 of the year of application
    • Either between 0 and 12 months of full-time studies (or full-time equivalent) in the program for which you are requesting funding, which may be one of the following:
      • A master’s program
      • A doctoral program that you are entering directly from a bachelor’s program without having ever been enrolled in any graduate programs (direct-entry)
      • A combined master’s-doctoral program
      • A master’s program that will transition to an eligible doctoral program, either before or after award activation, with no master’s degree conferred (fast-track)
      • A master’s program for which the degree requirements will be completed before the end of the award, allowing the award to continue into an eligible doctoral program
    • Or between 4 and 12 months of full-time study (or full-time equivalent) in an eligible master’s program for which the degree requirements will be completed before activation of the award, allowing it to be activated during the first 12 months of the subsequent doctoral program for which you are requesting funding.

Other Requirements

  • Not have held or be currently holding a CGS M scholarship from CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC
  • Have achieved a first-class average**, as determined by the host institution, in each of the last two completed years of study (full-time equivalent)
    • Note: Institutions may, at their discretion, accept CGS M applications from individuals who have not obtained a first-class average; contact your proposed host institutions to determine their use of this eligibility criterion
  • Submit a maximum of one scholarship (master’s or doctoral) or fellowship application per academic year to either CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC

In 2022, we piloted the Shakira Choonara Young African Scholarship Award. The scholarship is an investment in young people a thriving Africa and African excellence. Requirements for Shakira Choonara Young African Scholarship Award

  • Youth between the ages of 21-35 years-old
  • The applicant must be a citizen of any of the 54 African states
  • The applicant must be in the final year of studies (undergraduate or postgraduate) at an African university
  • Demonstrate financial need i.e. require the scholarship to settle final year tuition fees in order to complete their academic degree
  • A proven track record of academic excellence

About Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi Foundation (ASMAF)

Ajesola Solarin Majekodunmi Foundation (ASMAF) is a non-profit non-governmental organization founded and duly registered under the laws of Nigeria, dedicated to raising funds for, and awarding scholarships to bright but financially handicapped young Nigerian females for tertiary level education in professional courses, and leadership and life skills development.

ASMAF Scholarship Program 2023/2024

The ASMAF Scholarship Award is a Need-based financial aid for which the student and family’s financial situation is a primary factor in determining recipients. Besides the student and family’s financial situation the awardees must be promising students with superior academic ability.
The Award Provides:

  • Financial assistance for a professional course of study at a public Nigerian University covering tuition, board and upkeep for a period of up to 6 years, depending on the course and year of award, and subject to maintaining satisfactory academic progress.
  • Life skills and leadership development programmes including mentoring, with distinctive personal, academic and professional growth opportunities.
  • Access to resources that provide useful information and tools that encourage academic excellence and lifelong learning.

The applicant and family’s ability to contribute or pay toward the costs of university will be the primary factor used to determine financial need.  Financial need will be evaluated by a number of factors, including the applicant and her family’s income, assets, and family size.  In general, a family income of N1m or less, has a reasonable opportunity to be financially eligible for an ASMAF Scholarship; whereas a family earning above N2m is likely not financially eligible.  While these are general rules, all applicants will be evaluated on an individual basis.

The ASMAF Scholarship Award Provides:

  • Financial assistance for a professional course of study at a public Nigerian University covering tuition, board and upkeep for a period of up to 6 years, depending on the course and year of award, and subject to maintaining satisfactory academic progress.
  • Life skills and leadership development programmes including mentoring, with distinctive personal, academic and professional growth opportunities.
  • Access to resources that provide useful information and tools that encourage academic excellence and lifelong learning.
  • The ASMAF Scholarship award attracts a sum to be determined annually by ASMAF but will typically cover tuition, board and upkeep. Finalists who are selected as ASMAF Scholars will be notified of the amount of their awards.
  • The Scholarship will normally be awarded for the period of a full academic year from the time of the award till conclusion of the student’s course unless otherwise stated. Payments will be made in installments from semester to semester except otherwise required by the university which will be subject to confirmation of continuing eligibility.
  • The scholarship award will be renewed annually for the duration of the course of study if the Awardee maintains and sustains an appropriate academic record, and participates fully in all the programmes offered under the award. An appropriate academic record is deemed to be a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher to the conclusion of the academic programme. The Awardee must provide evidence of appropriate academic record certified under the hand of the Registrar of the University or his/her delegated representative and evidence of satisfactory participation in all other programmes offered under the award.

Requirements for ASMAF Scholarship Program Qualification

Applicants must

  • Be female INDIGENT and Nigerian citizen embarking on tertiary level qualifications for the first time.
  • Have gained admission to or be enrolled in a full-time accredited undergraduate programme in Medicine, Law,Actuary, Engineering, Accountancy, Architecture or any professional course in any public university in Nigeria.
  • Meet the financial need and academic requirements specified in these guidelines.
  • Demonstrate commitment to academic and professional excellence and possess strong leadership potentials.

Selection Process

Selection Criteria

  • All eligibility criteria will be verified.
  • Recommenders may be contacted.
  • A provisional ranking of all applicants will be prepared based on the course of study, state of origin and geographical zone of the admitting university
  • The final list of successful applicants will be determined by the sum of funds available.
  • ASMAF’s selection decisions are final and binding. ASMAF will not entertain any appeal against its decisions.

Application Procedure

  • The Application process consist of submission duly completed Online Form
  • Only those students for whom the completed application package that has been submitted is received by the deadline date will be considered for a scholarship. Deadline dates will be publicly published at least one month to the date.
  • Recommenders should carefully review ASMAF’s eligibility requirements and recommend only those students who are eligible. Relatives may not serve as Recommenders.
  • Recommenders writing Recommender letter must be sufficiently familiar with the student’s academic performance to respond to questions concerning academic achievement.  Eligible recommenders include principals, teachers, guidance counselors, higher education representatives, and other professional educators.
  • Referee writing Referee’s letter may be any adult of reputable character but must be sufficiently familiar with the student’s financial status to respond to questions concerning financial need. All such recommenders must act within their personal capacity.
  • Applicants must also provide an affidavit of indigence and financial incapacity deposed to any High Court of Justice in Nigeria.
  • Because competition for these awards is expected to be stiff, Applicants and Recommenders should make every effort to provide a complete picture of each applicant’s qualifications.
  • Omission of or incomplete or false information in any of the required fields in the Form, and of the requested documents will render the application incomplete and ineligible for consideration.

Requirements for Said Business School Postgraduate Scholarship

To be considered for the Skoll Scholarship for Oxford MBA 2024, interested applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must demonstrate that he/she have identified opportunities and taken action in order to make positive social impact.
  • Have spent preferably at least 3 years driving change through entrepreneurial approaches.
  • Applicants can demonstrate the outcomes and impact of their entrepreneurial action.
  • Possess personal qualities of a social entrepreneur.
  • Demonstrate why business education is essential in helping to develop your work/impact.
  • Demonstrate the need for the Scholarship.
  • Show that the cost of the programme is a significant financial burden.

Selection Process

  1. As part of your MBA application, upload your answers to the Skoll Scholarship essay questions and submit your MBA application! You’ll find the Scholarship essay questions under the “Funding” section of the MBA application. We would advise that you allow yourself about 1-weeks’ time to answer the Skoll Scholarship essay questions.
  2. The MBA Admissions Team will then assess your application and determine if you are accepted onto the MBA programme or not.
  3. If you received confirmation that you have been accepted onto the MBA programme, your application will automatically go forward to the Skoll Scholarship Selection Committee.
  4. Applications for the Scholarship are reviewed after each MBA admissions stage.
  5. You will receive an update on the status of your Scholarship application and whether your application is going forward to final shortlisting shortly after MBA admission decisions have been made from each stage.
  6. If you receive confirmation that your Scholarship application is going forward to final shortlisting, keep an eye out for an email from the Skoll Centre with a link to the Logistics and Reference Form. See timelines below to know when to expect this email.
  7. Once you have received the email, complete the Logistics and Reference Form. This consists of a series of short questions to confirm your contact details (in case you are invited to interview), how you heard about the Scholarship and your referees contact details. Please note, your referees will not be contacted unless you get to the final stages of the selection process.

Requirements for Utrecht University Excellence Scholarship

To be eligible for a Utrecht Excellence Scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must belong to the top 10% of your graduating class.
  • You must not hold an EU/EEA passport and not be eligible for support under the Dutch study grant and loan system.
  • You must have completed your secondary school and/or bachelor’s degree outside the Netherlands.
  • You must have applied for an international master’s programme with a start date of 1 September 2023. Not all programmes participate. Please check Master’s programme > Tuition fees and financial support to see if the Utrecht Excellence Scholarship is mentioned as a scholarship opportunity.

Selection Process

Below is the criteria for selection

  • Academic quality and promise in the proposed field of study, as evidenced by your master’s application.
  • Academic excellence, as evidenced by proof of belonging to the top 10% of your graduating class (class ranking certificate, GPA with grade distribution summary, statement/reference letter signed and stamped by your university).
  • The quality and relevance of your motivation letter for the master’s programme (academic content, intercultural and communication skills, personal motivation).
  • The quality of the application for the master’s programme itself (completeness, accuracy, consistency).

How to Apply

  • After submitting an application (or applications) for a UES eligible master’s programme before the stated deadline, non-EU/EEA students will have the opportunity to submit an application for one Utrecht Excellence Scholarship from 1 November 2022. You will see the UES application(s) in your OSIRIS Online Application account dashboard. Click view/edit for the UES linked (related process) to the programme you wish to apply for, upload the requested proof of belonging to the top 10% of your class, answer the questions and submit the application.
  • Prospective students who wish to be considered for the scholarship must apply before February 1st 23:59 CET. The application portal will close at this time. Selection will only start after the deadline. We aim to publish the results by mid-April.
