Mastercard Foundation Enterprise for Youth in Agriculture Program – How to Apply

Introduction:

The Mastercard Foundation Enterprise for Youth in Agriculture Program aims to combat youth unemployment in Africa by providing training opportunities to unemployed youths and women in vegetable production. This program utilizes technology, including greenhouse farming, soilless farming (hydroponics), ML & AI tools, and Integrated Pest Management to empower participants with valuable skills.

Enterprise for Youth in Agriculture Program

Program Details:

• Work, Learn, and Earn: Participants will receive training in vegetable production using cutting-edge agricultural technologies.
• Technologies Deployed: Greenhouse farming, soilless farming, ML & AI tools, and Integrated Pest Management.
• Student Intake: 1000 students per quarter, with four admissions per year, totaling 4000 students annually.
• Group Structure: Students are grouped into batches of 50, each with specialized teams for various aspects of the agricultural process.
• Learning: Comprehensive training covering greenhouse setup, soilless farming, ML and AI, and Olericulture production.
• Earning: Students earn a stipend during the 3-month training period, followed by income from their company’s produce sales.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this program, candidates must:

• Be between 18 – 29 years old at the time of application.
• Have a genuine interest in Olericulture (vegetable production).
• Be available for 12 weeks of physical training.
• Be physically and mentally fit to work with a team on the farm.
• Be willing to work and live within the project location (Awowo, Abeokuta, Ogun state).
• Have no criminal record.
• Be willing to adhere to and respect the rules and regulations of the project and its location.
